Hello From South Korea

Hi I am currently living in South Korea and I am from Florida. I am currently serving in the US military and that is how I find myself here. I recently got in to fountain pens and I am in total love. Unlike most people I started with a Noodler's Ahab and I love that pen, however I recently got into Lamy and now I have spent why to much on them already. I currently have a Noodler's Ahab, 4 Noodler's Charlies, Nemosine Singularity with a 0.8mm, Lamy Safari in petrol and all black with EF and M, and a Lamy Joy calligraphy set. I also found a retailer that still had Lamy Studio Racing Green and Lamy Safari in Neon Coral, Neon Lime, and Dark Lilac still in stock so now I am waiting on those to arrive. I also found a place with the Charged green Al-star in the gift set so that is coming as well. But what is more dangerous is I found out that Lamy has a consept store in Seoul so guess who is going there this weekend. I am left handed so there are somethings that are a bit more challenging for me and why I have weird opinion like I prefer Leuchtturm1917 more adsorbent paper over Rodia.

I have a Nemosine Singularity with a 0.8mm nib and really like it. Enjoy your time at the Lamy concept store (jealous).

And thank you for your service.

Hello and welcome to FPN, from Cape Town, South Africa.

Whilst you're in that part of the world, you should look carefully for Sailor, Namiki, Platinum and Nakaya pens - that's in a whole different league of what you've used up to now. And spend your annual bonus on a beautiful Namiki Maki-e pen - it will become an heirloom.

Enjoy your fp's.

To sit at one's table on a sunny morning, with four clear hours of uninterruptible security, plenty of nice white paper, and a [fountain] pen - that is true happiness!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
