Can you tell me the differences between these Zebra G nibs? Or send me to a page where it is explained?

Thank you

The titaniums are a little longer lasting, a little more flexible, a little smoother, and my preferred dip nib these days.

I like my brausse rose and leonardt principal, but for the small writing that I often do, I find the zebra G titanium and leonardt 41 to be much better. The rose and principals are so soft that any downstroke, no matter how light, will flex. I need at least a LITTLE ability to keep that hairline into the beginning of a downstroke when I write small.

So while the titaniums are a couple bucks each, on par with the brausse rose, I find them to be the best for my work, though the brausse and principal start to take the cake (those two are much scratchier though) when the shading gets big and I'm writing more ornamental.

Also, for two bucks you can get a dip pen set on ebay that has a few junk nibs that have 2 resevoirs that can be removed and tweaked to fit G nibs.

I was wondering why they sell by tens or hundreds - these nibs apparently are very short-lived. Just 75m for the titanium one and 20m for the chrome one.

@Steve

Amazon is always a good source to do a first search.

One big advantage is that Amazon often/usually use the same link for all the stores - just change the country code.

Have you tried Google Translate with that link? Probably not.

In service of a noodlers konrad with a zebra nib, I was seeing 2-3 months of regular, daily use out of a chrome nib. I've had a titanium in one for 3 months now and stopped using it for a while, it's still not even close to worn out.

The nibs last longer than you'd expect. longer than most dip nibs.

Good to hear that they last at least some months.

I ordered a pack of the titanium nibs at Amazon. Let's get some experience.

I have a Sheaffer Lifetime nib, which lasts nearly 90 years now.

OK, I got the nibs.

With pliers, I flattened the nib a little bit so it can be used with the Jinhao feed.

It works - but I found out that most papers are not usable with such a nib.

Some higher quality (Midori MD) paper was necessary, otherwise fractal-like branches started creeping away from the ink line.

the nib should work fine on all but the most absorbent papers. I used mine a ton with rhodia, clairefontaine, kokuyo... the hairlines should be adequate on most paper. If you're flexing it, of course, it shouldn't be happy with uncoated paper.

Ink choice does really matter on a pen like this. super watery inks like aurora black are absolutely a no-go.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
