Wow that's a long time to wait. I guess I am lucky as I probably got one the last to leave the shop before he stopped the production. However I had to work 8 months for the right nib to arrive:( At least it's now here.

I know patience is a virtue. But good grief! Is it summer yet? Are the eyedroppers...ready? **sigh**

Now that Opus 88 is coming out with much cheaper eyedroppers, at least there is a stop gap solution until summer!

They have always been ebonite with acrylic. Nothing that you have not seen already as I was referring to the usual models they already have on the market, like the fantasia, the picnic and such.

Ebonite? Link please! :)

Thanks. I think maybe I will wait for the Eboya eyedropper. I simply love my Eboya Natsume in Nichibo, and look forward to an eyedropper in Kougetsu Yellow.

Gerigo,

May I ask how you would compare the eboya shut-off valve system vs that of Namiki? I'm impressed by the Namiki eyedroppers I have, not sure whether I would be with eboya.

Last ones made had the Eboya Kyouka as eyedropper/ink-stopper. Hopefully this time will see other models...

All eye dropper shut offs are pretty much the same, with the difference primarily around the design of the stopper plug. The Eboyas use a delrin rod that is shaped to fit the end of the grip section, while the Namiki has an additional rubber stop. The way these pens are designed, it's when they start leaking that they become a headache. I now have eye droppers from Namiki, Danitrio, Eboya, Ban-ei, Automat and Opus 88 and they are all pretty much the same. All the stoppers can be adjusted so that you can tune the ink stopping capabilities of the plugs. While the Eboyas are simpler, they are equally effective.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
