Just got into the fountain pen scene and sorry to have missed out on the dark lilac limited edition.

I was just wondering what the next colour will be, anyone up for hazarding a guess?

Blue violet, maybe a blue violet ink.

Has there been an orange? I would love to get my hands on a light blue one :)

One of the original Safari colors was orange (the other being a sort of olive green) -- but it wasn't a bright orange, more of an orange-y brown.

There was also a light blue one (they called it French Blue) with a red clip, I think from about ten or twelve years ago. I keep hoping that I will find one of those someday at a semi-reasonable price (as opposed to the roughly $120 US I see them for on eBay ). Just not paying that kind of money for a Safari.

OTOH, there's a display of this year's Vibrant Pink al-Stars at one of my local-ish Barnes and Noble locations.... I'm not overly enamored of the color (I would have already bought one if I was -- as opposed to the LE ink, which I love) -- *or* the fact that they're not discounted. And I couldn't tell if they had any that weren't a medium nib.

Ikwym about the price, gotta draw the line somewhere. I like the dark lilac and see there are some on Amazon for around £40 but like you say it's a bit steep for a safari (that you can get for £14 in another colour). I'm happy with the ones I have.

Now a burgundy, I would definitely get one!

There have been multiple releases of "bright" oranges also released after that. https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PpK9l9OryB4/VRZ2rT0eSuI/AAAAAAAAAzo/aBvHbQTYe0A/s1600/L1120991.jpg

I would love a beige Lamy Safari with a dark green clip.

THAT BEING SAID: Lamy has released 3 matte Safaris (which I personally dislike.) I wouldn't be surprised at another matte Safari, possibly a green?

Brown, burgundy or a pale lilac are the obvious gaps, but it would be nice to see the original terracotta and savannah again, maybe smooth to differentiate them.

There was a Brown LE made as co-branding for an Asian brand, with little figurine clips.

A Burgundy matte Safari would be wonderful, or just any of the mauve/pink/turquoise/blue colors to match the new inks.

Studios in these colors would be, as well, most welcomed.

I suppose an Al-Star (fp, rollerball, ballpoint, mechanical pencil) matching all the inks, traditional and new would be great for the pen gift market.

Lamy could also partner with our very own Master Craftsmen to make/design items which will match the craftsmanship of its pens.

Fountain pen friendly premium journals with TM Lee.

Pen cases which are as elegant as tough, as well as innovative journal cover with Michael.

I would like a brown version like the Line ones made for the brown bear character. That or a tan or cafe au lait. Or a light purple, or basic green. A light sky blue would be fine. Edit here to add Mint Green to the list.

Right at this moment a light warm purple would be really cool.

But no neon ones this time. But no dark colors either. Lamy doesnt follow trends or Pantone. I didnt get the black version this year. But I do like the black stealth Al-Star. Hmm...

Just a WAG of course... a deep dark green. Think forest green at dusk. A black nib would be cool.

I am really enjoying the dark colors and gope they continue for the next one or a remake of Teracata or Olive.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
