Well, this is happening.

It is beautiful. My wallet is in hiding. My pen collection is in fear as I look over it looking for anything I can sell to finance one of these. :)

Don't hold your breath for a clearance sale; I doubt they'll last that long anywhere.

A dealer told me that the tiny Australian allocation already sold out in pre-sale at around A$3000 each!

I wish I could afford one, but even A$2320 tax free from Holland is beyond my budget.

Sob!

Glenn.

I have the gold version and love it. Somehow the platinum version leaves me cold.

It's the other way around for me, as I don't like gold. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it) it's way out of my price range for a pen! I look forward to seeing one in person. It seems like a good compromise for those who weren't able to pick up a Kyokko or Genko Raden pen.

Trouble is, one just never knows when something like this will crawl under your skin and make you itch until you buy one. Only cure is to go off grid, kill the phone and pc, and take up whittling.

There are many other way more collectible pens for that amount of money IMHO

+1

Technically, it is just a M800 unless you are into collecting embellishments. :D

Live Long and Prosper!

Eventually someone's collection will be sold....if you live long enough.

Or save your money, and wait for the next depression....could get it for half price then.

I my self have decided to double my speculative investments.

As for the depression, half price seems expensive.

It's more limited than the P-75 that went for $225 before the last depression and $75 in it. :(

I already had one...of course I only paid $22 for it....silver money back when the Dollar was still Almighty. @1970-71.

Beautiful! But the price! All M80X are all M80X. With this sort of pen you're buying the exterior. I have numerous M805 and M205. May have to do a sell of because platinum is my favorite.

I've been surprised by just how hard these are to come by. I had no problem getting a Royal Gold. I've contacted multiple vendors for a pre-order and they are only getting 1-2 pens each which are already spoken for so I'm still left on the hunt for one. Very disappointing as I'd like to pair this up with my Royal Gold. If anyone has a solid line on one of these, please let me know.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
