Rhodia 30% Off At Barnes And Noble

I was happy to find Rhodia paper on the 30% off table at my local (Akron, Ohio) Barnes and Noble last night. I picked up an A4 lined pad for $6.30, an A5 dot grid pad for $4.02, and an A5 dot grid softcover notebook for $13.96.

There were a few left of each size, some dot grid, some lined, and some graph.

I don't usually spend so much on paper, but this is really smooth! I'm looking forward to using the notebook as my journal for my upcoming vacation.

Good haul! Might need to troll mine. Never have any books (probably why they’re going under) so I don’t normally bother.

the B&N's I have been to in the past never sold Rhodia. Might have to drop by one again before they all go out of business...

So i did stop by my local BnN and one shelf of rhidia on the bottom shelf of the display and none were marked down. They were mostly a5 top stapled dot pads. At the same time the display case next to them was stocked top to bottom with Leuchtturm. Again most a5 but notebooks. No discounts on them either but it made we wonder if they are shifting brands.

I was able to pick up a couple of discounted Leuctturm notebooks, but no Rhodia to be seen.

My fingers are always inky and I'm always looking for something new.  Interested in trading?  Contact me!

I remember one of the ones near me had a carousel display of Rhodia a few years ago. But it was, IIRC, only the Cranberry Twp. store -- not the Settler's Ridge location in Robinson Twp., or the Waterfront location in Homestead. Dunno about the store in Monroeville -- I'm almost never at that one. Of course the Moleskine rack is prominently displayed.... :(

You'd think that chains would carry the same merchandise across all locations, but they don't. Wondering now whether they test market products like that -- the Cranberry store used to also carry the EcoSystem journals, but I don't think any of the other ones in the Pittsburgh area did.

If you have an "Artists and Craftsmen" location near you you might want to check it out. They usually have a nice selection of Rhodia, Leuch..., Fabriano and others and the prices are discounted. In addition, if you are a teacher you can get an "education" discount of an additional 10% (?). As well. Nice people, nice selection of notebooks - IMHO.

Also, check out their web site as discounts appear there as well.

No affiliation etc.....

I didn't realize the chain was that far flung (I often haunt the Pittsburgh store to kill time when I'm in that neighborhood). It's my go-to place for Rhodia pads (they even -- very occasionally -- have the really little No. 10 size ones). Besides Rhodia and Leuchtterm, they carry brands like Paperblanks, and one of these days I make break down and try a Shinola journal, although they're not cheap.

They're not so good for fountain pens or inks, although they have a reasonable selection of dip pens and nibs. A couple of years ago, I did buy a bottle of Pelikan Fount India -- although I haven't actually tried it -- and I keep promising myself that someday I may treat myself to a set of Pilot Parallels.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
