Here Is A Little Test For The Uk Pen People

Recommended Posts

Sorting through my myriad pens prior to the clear out I set out my small pens for a size comparison.
So people study the picture and try to identify the pens please.
There are two interlopers in this picture of UK pens and the initial test is to identify them before you move on to the remainder.

No prizes for the winners this is just for fun!
Cheers

Dave

Summit Cub

Parker Televisor (although these Canadians sometimes carry odd names) - so not UK

Possibly a Queensway

Parker Duofold - Demi?

Unique or possibly Kingswood

Lang made - Slik, although also found without a model name - I object to Peter's comparison to cheap platignums ;-)

Waterman 512v (edit - enlarged the barrel print is visible)

Yuck

Wahl Bantam

Parker Duofold Chaterlaine (not convinced, but cannot think of anything else)

No Queensways were hurt in this neck of the woods however I like that little Orium which I had thought was a alternate name for Wyvern of which I have many, including an Orium Major.

I was interested in your identification of the red black and green six-sider as a Lang Slik as it is a very rough cast casing with no identifiable marks as indeed neither has the chatelaine which I thought may also be a Lang.

The top parker is indeed a televisor and the three capring blue is Unique

The Bantam says nothing about where it was made but I had presumed it was made in the UK in one of the plants that made Kingswood. Perhaps Lang again?

The small green parker is a Lady with that diminutive hooded nib.

Cheers

Dave

P.S. I need about a dozen 16 and 17 sacs so please let me know the best way to order

Nice selection. So, the third from the top is (?) an Orium? Beautiful barrel colours.

Not much love being shown to the Kaweco!

I get my sacs from Pendragons site, in the UK.

Thanks

Gutted, I had initially put Wyvern Orium then later edited the entry as the cap did not look quite right. You are correct Orium was a brand used by Wyvern.

The six sider is definitely made by Lang, I have had several through my hands. Where branded it is as a Slik, but they seem to have mainly sold as 'no name' third party affairs. Cheap pens, cheap SS nib, but often with superb colouring.

16 & 17's are available, ping me a email or direct through paypal.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
