New M205 Olivine

It's not quite as close as I remembered, but still quite good looking.

Thanks - hadn't seen that one and it IS nice. I think the Pelikan wins this round though because piston fillers work better as demonstrators than C/C fillers, IMO. Edited by bbs

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

That green reminds me of a popular UK brand of dish detergent: Fairy Liquid.

So what are they asking for the 'detergent pen'?

I believe these Special Edition pen colors are limited until stock runs out. There are still some demonstrators available for 2017 and 2016 (smoky quartz and aquamarine if I remember correctly)

Thanks! That's what I wanted to know. Looks like I'll have to order the Smoky Quartz for my collection while my distributor still has them. :D

I'm not sure it's a competition, although I do appreciate piston fillers I don't mind Sailor's converters, even with their tiny ink capacity.

It was something like $145 USD, so in the m205 range. Plus converter probably.

The RT sets off the green nicely. Nice shade, if green is your color.

Cult Pens are asking £112.5 for FP and £99 for BP.

The Aquamarine has been my favorite of the series to date but I have high hopes that this one could claim the top spot if done right. Been anticipating it for over 2 years. Can't wait to see some real world pics.

I too am waiting for some non-official photos as the marketing photos have proven themselves not to be the most reliable. I'm looking forward to the end of September!

What about the 2019 Ink of the Year, is the colour known already? Do we have any intel? I've just browsed around a little bit, and no real mention of it ... I must admit though, I kind of like the anticipation of it.

I too prefer the Aquamarine compared to Olivine. The RT goes well with both colors.

The Olivine has an art deco effect in terms of color.

The Writing Desk just posted a photo of it on their Instagram feed. They say it's an accurate representation of the color. Give it a look.

I got the Aquamarine, skipped the others (smokey quarts is nice but slightly too similar to Cognac , which I have) but this one looks a nice green (I am not so fond of the earlier M200 green demonstrators, the green is too...green, so I did not get them at the time)

That's very pretty. I just hate the steel nibs. I'll hold out in hope of a deep orange one some time soon and then swap nibs.

Sounds odd, the Pelikan steel nibs in the M200s are really nice nibs IMO. Slightly flexy.

Look nice but I really don't need another m20x sized pen.. I know it's somewhat of a tradition for them but it could be nice if they did more more options in the m600 size. If they made this one as a m605 I think I would buy it for sure. I think they are missing out not doing it like some in the past where you could get 200,600,800 all matching on a release like this.

As much as I like M200s I'm with you on this, if they made a M605 this colour without rocketing price sky high I'd get it for sure.

I like the color, even more than my Amethyst, but that....and need watch chains.

I do like the regular flex 200's nibs in steel or in gold plate, as I've said many times. Like them better than the modern 400/600's nibs.

fully agree, there is something special about them, no other nib maker makes steel nibs with the same characteristics. Granted you can like them or not.

Looks like the Pelikan publicity shot - my reason for saying is Pelikan Pens/Pure Pens/Niche Pens (all the same company) posted a video yesterday and it looked darker, again not that close to the publicity shots - however I rather liked the look, reminded me of the sort of green glass the French use for their wine bottles in some appellations.

The real world pics released so far have looked good. I definitely think the real world product is not as bright as the product shots would suggest and actually fairly close to Olivine.

I've had mine (from the Writing Desk) for a couple of days now. I would post photos, except that for maybe the first and only time, the colour shown in the official Pelikan picture as seen in post #1 is entirely accurate. Slightly more yellow than the ink, which is not a bad thing as it separates it nicely from the aquamarine and the green M200 demo.

A very handsome pen, and writing with it reminds me again that I could almost enjoy writing with just an M20X until the end of my days and not feel hard done by :happyberet:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
