New M205 Olivine

bbs

Recommended Posts

Pictures of this were released a few days ago but no one seems to be talking about it!

Personally, I think it's nicer than I was expecting, and certainly more appealing than the past few issues. Possibly need to see it in person, but if it is this nice rich green with a bit of variation in the depth of colour throughout the barrel, I probably will get one.

Niche Pens are taking pre-orders.

Of course, knowing Pelikan, the actual colour could be anything at all, but if it's close to this, then I'm in!

Yeah that green looks rather nice but I'd expect in reality it to be closer to a grey/dirty green. Of course for once Pelikan might actually be advertising the pen a it really looks ....

Are these yearly pen colors limited edition like the ink?

I'm thinking about getting a Smoky Quartz or this Olivine but they are not really a priority so I'd rather wait if they'll still be available after a few months.

That's very pretty. I just hate the steel nibs. I'll hold out in hope of a deep orange one some time soon and then swap nibs.

Rumor has an orange M600 coming later in the year... But a deep orange demonstrator might be a winner!

Will most likely purchase this one, my wife saw the picture and fell in love with it. She doesn't use pens though so I'll have to take care of it for her.

Oh no! Not another one! My wallet can't take this. That is really nice looking, although aquamarine might still be nicer, even though I never got it... There is also a Sailor demonstrator with this colour scheme, for a probably similar price.

Look nice but I really don't need another m20x sized pen.. I know it's somewhat of a tradition for them but it could be nice if they did more more options in the m600 size. If they made this one as a m605 I think I would buy it for sure. I think they are missing out not doing it like some in the past where you could get 200,600,800 all matching on a release like this.

Driften, you are forgetting the first rule of collecting:

"Need" has NOTHING to do with it! B)

But you're right, I too wish they would do the all sizes matching thing on more varieties, starting with an M600 Tortoise!

Although I'm a huge fan of Sailor nibs, and would take their Sky High demonstrator over Pelikan's light blue M205 any day, their green demo isn't as classy as the Olivine to my eyes. But I may be looking at the wrong one ....

The color of last year's M405 Stresemann was way darker a grey than I was expecting from what Pelikan showed. OTOH, the M200 Café Crème images from a few years ago were pretty darn close to what the actual pen looked like "in person".

As to this one, I'm going to reserve judgement -- I do rather like the color but I'm not overly fond of translucent/demonstrator type pens. Although if it ends up being darker, I can see that working as well.

It's not quite as close as I remembered, but still quite good looking.

You're right and I said I was not going to buy the clear m205 that had just came out and then bought it anyways.

Certainly appealing if that is, indeed, the actual color. We'll see.

Kind of with Ruth on demos, though - the only Pelikan I have is the red one.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

:D I have a whole sub-collection of pens that I said I wouldn't buy, then did anyway. Most recently, the 101n Red Tort. Not the clear ones though. That's one hurdle I haven't crossed yet.

I believe these Special Edition pen colors are limited until stock runs out. There are still some demonstrators available for 2017 and 2016 (smoky quartz and aquamarine if I remember correctly)

Yeah, me too. They all say "Parker Vacumatic" on the imprint.... :headsmack:

I keep lusting after the Red Tortoise pens, but they're always ending up as being too pricy for me.

I like the color, even more than my Amethyst, but that....and need watch chains.

I do like the regular flex 200's nibs in steel or in gold plate, as I've said many times. Like them better than the modern 400/600's nibs.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
