Ancora Pens - Now On Fountain Pen Network

Recommended Posts

Greetings, members of the Fountain Pen Network!

We are Ancora, the pen production house from northern Italy where weve been making high-quality, truly Italian pens since 1919.

Over time, Ancora has been through a number of changes, and a lengthy hiatus as well. However for quite some years weve been able to reliably produce both cutting-edge, exquisite premium-priced pens like the Shogun and the Titanic, and classic, elegant and more moderately priced pieces like Perla and Maxima. Were also one of the pen companies that still manufacture our own nibs in-house, and our smooth-writing 18K gold nibs have become a staple of our models.

Recently, we have acquired Omas S.R.L., another classic Italian brand beloved by many of our customers. We are currently working on bringing back the Omas model lineup, and are in the early stages of planning the logistics, materials etc.. We want to preserve the classic Omas feel and quality, but at the same time use the benefits of cutting-edge technology to make sure that Omas fans around the world have access to the best quality at optimal prices.

We believe its time to connect with the pen enthusiast community more closely, and are ready to answer any questions you might have, as well as hear any feedback or input you might have both on existing Ancora and upcoming Omas pens.

You can find our inventory catalog on https://ancora1919.com/ and on Amazon, and all further updates on Omas will be posted on http://www.omas.com/

It is good news, and it is heartening to find that the rejuvenator of the brand chose to communicate the news directly to FPN.

I cannot imagine that what they eventually produce will once again "be" OMAS, but if there was any Italian pen that rendered the sensual and even primordial pleasure in writing that OMAS pens gave, it was certainly Ancora.

The Ancora pens I know tended to be similar in style and design, differing only in manufacturing materials -- which is a good sign. It means that attention to detail was more important than producing mass amounts of cheap pens.

Waiting to see what Ancora produces, and if they will be called OMAS or Ancomas or Omara or some similar indication that they are separate but equal, but in general it sounds hopeful.

We’re excited to hear such high praise! One thing that is certain at this point, however, is that there will be no “Ancomas”. We believe deeply that both brands are staples of world’s (not just Italian) pencraft, and that each brand carries its own values and traditions. Omas will remain Omas, retaining its trademark features, and Ancora will remain Ancora.

Hello and welcome to FPN, from Cape Town, South Africa.

I own several Omas pens and I'm really happy to hear that they will be available again in the near future.

To sit at one's table on a sunny morning, with four clear hours of uninterruptible security, plenty of nice white paper, and a [fountain] pen - that is true happiness!

  • 3 weeks later...

I’m a big fan of Ancora stubs. Glad to hear Omas might be back. Hopefully with the hard to find nib sizes that made them so attractive.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
