Hi all,

I received my olive green Studio from England yesterday. Here it is pictured with a sampling of my other Studios, (stainless, racing green, olive and my well-worn and very first Studio, Imperial Blue):

Enjoy... I hope. :)

A Christmas/New year gift perhaps? Seems like a lovely shade.

Hey, how did you know? :D

You should listen to your mother but on this occasion, take my advice.

Pictures please!

My pleasure! I'm no photographer and the light wasn't great but this might give you an idea. They creep up on you when such lovely colours are released - FOUR Studios is quite a lot! Still think the Terracotta would be my choice if I could keep only one. I love the Royal Red but the Terracotta has more of a textured surface and subtle differences in colour.

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

Ha, and so is Anthony (unless he's succumbed to the Terracotta by now!) Which colours have you got?

Hi BBS,

I actually have two more that weren't pictured... the black and the Rubin LE, (revised photo coming soon). :)

...I used to have the Palladium one with the gold nib and lost it. :wallbash:

... and I'm probably gonna pull the trigger on the terracotta one, too. :headsmack:

Hi Anthony, well you're obviously smitten and lost! I do think you'll like the Terracotta, it's not a 'dead' drab colour at all.

I'm now trying to resist adding an Imperial Blue and a Palladium - silly, but I do like this model!

Thank you, Pseudo88, that is the perfect picture to help me! Your Palladium looks particularly lovely - what size nib do you have in it, and do you enjoy it?

Hi BBS, et al,

Just to fulfill my earlier promise... here's the black and Rubin... unfortunately, my pic isn't nearly as good as Pseudo's...

It's a steel EF nib, as opposed to the regular 14k nib; got it for a lot less than the 14k model's price. I love that it makes Ajisai look good, it's smooth and the section is not slippery. Now that I think about it, even if it doesn't have the original nib, and it was sold as new, it's particularly smooth like my other Studios, compared to my seven Vistas.

Golly! Four special-edition Studio finishes in under twelve months. LAMY sure has gone hog-wild with the special editions! Its quickly getting to the point where they dont feel special anymore. :(

They will probably released around September so, not within 12 months ;-)

I personally like this rythm of releases :) but i can also relate to your point. But since I like studio's so much... more is better imho ;-)

Despite I find the Studio quite uncomfortable to use they look nice. The Terracotta would nicely pair with the racing green I have.

Yeah!

Very nice, huh?

Oh yeah, really nice! The terracotta looks better every time I see it, although I also liked the previous green one, which never came down in price. I don't have a problem with the shiny sections but I do have to confess I have to make an effort not to grip them harder, which sort of defeats the point.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
