Who Sells Where?

Hello folks !
After a long absence I am back for a while as I am wanting to clear out all the dozens of pens sittting in my collection boxes.
I am keeping my BHR favourites but everything else will go.
I have looked in the classified section and see virtually no Parkers and wonder why?
I have a Consort Insignia 65 some 51 vacs in need of work,, a nice Thuya lacquer 75 and a 180 also in Thuya
A 75 pen and pencil in tortoise shell lacquer, a couple of 61s including a rainbow cap and loads more.
If I were to sell classified It would take ages and if Parkers are no longer popular on there what would I achieve except loads of work
On line auctions are nowadays hampered by who sees what as country visibility is restricted and international shipping is so very expensive and fraught with problems.
So who sells where pray tell?
Cheers

Dave
P.S. I used to load images via the bucket but they now want to charge me so if anyone has a decent way to load images please tell

Maybe why no Parkers in the classifieds is that they sell fast. ??

I think the crowd here likes modern pens more so than vintage Parkers.

San Francisco International Pen Show - The next “Funnest Pen Show” is on schedule for August 23-24-25, 2024.  Watch the show website for registration details.

My PM box is usually full. Just email me: my last name at the google mail address.

Having just now taken a trawl through the Classifieds and found Vacs and the odd striped Duofold and the odd 51 and excellent Parkers (as usual) offered and sold by Barrie Parker, I wouldn't say there's no business being done in vintage Parkers.

It may be that all those modern pens weren't what the seller really wanted, but hey, when it's a vintage Parker you'll need to pry it out of my cold, dead hands.

You maybe correct in your statement. However I may break a finger or two selling parts to FarmBoy. [ Still recovering from 2016 ]

I only sell through personal contact, people I’ve done nib work for, and the occasional classified. I watch eBay closely and can tell you that Parker’s are hot right now, especially well buffed and refurbished Duofolds and P-51’s. Prices are the highest I’ve seen to date.

The market is fickled though. Prices could drop tomorrow and not pick up again until the holiday gift giving season.

I am told that IMGBB may work so here is a test
Apologies if I am infringing any rules but I tried with the bucket and got a message to say it was now prohibited

This was to be the IMGUR suggestion but still getting the prohibited notice
Will someone please explain to this geriatric exactly how you can get an image to show in a post or comment the way they used to.
Seems all online hosting sites are prohibited!

There is a detailed tutorial on using the "Upload" tab here:

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/blog/2/entry-22-the-images-upload-tab-what-is-it-how-to-use-it/

It is not very intuitive but it works.

Thank you for the heads up!

I will have to down size all my pictures but this system does work as the picture shows.

Is there anyway to use web hosted pictures and post thumbnails the way we used to ????

I don't see a Consort Insignia, the all rolled gold P65 is a regular Insignia, 1/10 12Ct rolled gold.

Would like to ask the OP, what is the pen on the far right?

I like that Parker Consort Insignia 65. :)

So do I !

It is a good user that shows well with good plating but there are some barely visible dings that take the grading down a little.

I presume you are referring to the French made pen which is a Plexor made by the French Parker Licensee who whilst making Duofolds made their own versions. That is an aluminium button filler under the blind cap.

I had a duofold nib in it for a while but have reverted to the Plexor nib

I bought that in 2008 and posted on this forum

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/50923-made-by-or-made-for/

They appear on here every now and then

Cheers

The limit using the Upload tab is 2mb per picture which translates to very large images. Please remember that not everyone has access to high speed internet and 15mb pictures are a pain to load.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
