Special Diamine Ink By R/fountainpens

Hey all,

Just want to give word to all members of FPN that Diamine has again informed that there will be an ink specially requested and made by/for the reddit fountain pen community. See the link below for the details:

https://www.reddit.com/r/fountainpens/comments/90oxz1/diamine_have_offered_to_make_rfountainpens_an_ink/

As you may remember, last year Diamine made the Earl Grey based on the r/fountainpen community request and they knocked it out of the park.

So what do you guys think is the befitting color of this year?

I personally would want a murky green / gold like the Alt-Goldgrun but made from Diamine.

Ditto... plus a better flow. As for greens, murky is good but I'd prefer a real murkiness like in moss, e.g. Stipula's. Otherwise an indigo/purple grey like Eclipse, just "greyer", murkier.

Life is too short to drink bad wine (Goethe)

If anyone is interested in the status of the votes. That gets updated automatically as votes are in.

I personally voted for Green, Red and Yellow. Blue is over represented and I was actually disappointed when the last time Grey was chosen so I'm glad Diamine came back, it's not like you get the chance every day to have one of the biggest ink manufacturers offer this.

Did not know that the Earl Grey has flow issues previously, hopefully they improve the quality for this years ink

Also looking at the name suggestions are fun indeed (Crispy Bacon, really?) , I suggest for you to have a look if you have spare time. Currently the color in lead is a Teal followed by Green and then Purple.

Dunno about Teal, I mean they've already got the Diamine Teal

Hi,

that would be fine. Diamine Wagner is something like that.

A Green-Black without beeing blueish would be my wish...

Best

Nice for pointing out an ink I have never seen before, thanks!

However I feel that the color is more heavy on the yellows on the Wagner

Chances are slim it's going to be voted on much, but I've put in a submission for Primavera, a ballet pink with light green and gold sheen, reminiscent of the garments in Botticelli's painting of the same name. I've recently fallen in love with pictures of J. Herbin Rouille d'Ancre and Sailor Jentle Sakura-Mori because of their light, airy appearance, and although Diamine do have a bunch of different pinks, almost all of them are of the retina-searing type.

I missed out on last year's chance so it's fun to have a say this time around. I like how an under represented colour got some love last time. I'm thinking, do we really need another teal (as it is in the lead)? I'm looking for something unique in the red/orange space, but I also voted for purple.

I have always been a fan of a wheat or hay colored yellow, so I voted for an ink called Hay Soup, after a soup found in a few areas of Switzerland that was quite delicious!

FP Ink Orphanage-Is an ink not working with your pens, not the color you're looking for, is never to see the light of day again?!! If this is you, and the ink is in fine condition otherwise, don't dump it down the sink, or throw it into the trash, send it to me (payment can be negotiated), and I will provide it a nice safe home with love, and a decent meal of paper! Please PM me!For Sale: TBA

I guess Teal will win this year, hopefully they do something unique to it.

At worst, please make it similar to the EoC

Already voted green and named it "Silent Marsh".

Looks like the winning name will be Diamine Inky McInkface

I doubt Diamine would allow that, which is a good thing. My names were Campfire and Northern Lights.

I, for one, voted for Inky McInkface. Green, non-shimmer. I'm not ashamed of my choice 😄

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China. With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters. Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed. And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments.. I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
