Hello From Florida!

TrinTran

Recommended Posts

Hello! Im Trin Tran, (Nickname my IRL friends call me) a young teen that likes fountain pens and drawing. So far, I only have a Pilot Kakuno in a fine nib, I use it for writing and drawing. Its my favorite pen so far.

About my art, I do personified pen people, basically pens imagined as human. If you ever wanted a fountain pen anime, here is the closest thing. I got drawing and drew these Pilot pens today, tell me what you think! Some questions, where is a place in the forums where I can post my personified pen people drawings, any fountain pen recommendations for my art, and what fountain pen do you want to see personified? Hope you like the art! (Though it was kinda rushed, the next personified pen drawing will be more finished looking)

Welcome to FPN from North Carolina! Those drawings are great - enjoyed them and love the idea! I'd suggest posting a thread in the "Pictures and Pen Photography" if you plan on making more. I'm certain looking forward to it! Would be curious to see how you'd personify a TWSBI or Lamy Safari or 2000.

Enjoy your stay here!

Your drawings are quite good. And giving personality to pens is quite a unique artistic focus. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Hey, I came here to thank everyone for welcoming me to the Fountain Pen Network! After looking into the other subforums, I'm planning to post my personified pen people in "The Write Stuff" since I feel like it fits more with artwork in general. I'll post them after I get Lamy 2000 and TWSBI Eco done, I recently finished the Lamy Safari pen person so it should be up within a week or so.

Hello and welcome to FPN, from Cape Town, South Africa.

To sit at one's table on a sunny morning, with four clear hours of uninterruptible security, plenty of nice white paper, and a [fountain] pen - that is true happiness!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
