Hi everyone,

 

I'm not new to fountain pens, but I have recently rediscovered them. In Belgium we are (or at least were when I was a bit younger) obligated to use fountain pens in elementary school, it helps with learning how to properly hold a pen I guess? When we 'graduated' elementary school, all pupils got an engraved Lamy ballpoint pen, which is a VERY cool thing to a 12yo - something with your name on, so I guess that meant goodbye to fountain pens for most of us. I strayed even further when I got this beautiful gold ballpoint pen designed by this fashion designer whose name I can't quite seem to remember and when I lost that pen in Paris (how broken I was) I just bought a 100-pack of classic BIC-pens and went on living my life.

 

That is until I bought myself an iPad Pro for uni, and the smoothness with which the Apple Pencil glides over the screen reminded me of how smooth fountain pens used to write. And here I am.. In the past week I've bought two beautiful Waterman Hémisphere pens, a fine and an extra fine, which I ADORE and a Lamy CP1 EF which is way too scratchy to ease my nostalgic vibes and thus don't really adore but is a good spare pen to keep in my purse.

 

I'm in love.

You should take a look at that nice little Antwerp based company called "Conid" - and buy one of their Kingsize Bulkfillers.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
