Hi! I'm fairly new to the world of fountain/dip/ink pens. My main use for the pen is art. I draw....or perhaps doodle is a more descriptive word. I have had to make a change in pen and ink as the background i make for my drawings is not kind to the pens I usually worked with. So, drawing on my limited experience of self taught calligraphy, then a class in school (desperate measures to improve my unconventional left handed writing), I turned to calligraphy pens. Dip pens to be exact. And discovered that after an undisclosed number of years, I can still decently form something legible and not ugly. But the myriad of tips I tried were not what I was looking for in the drawing department. Although I will be practicing the calligraphy again, it's relaxing and enjoyable. So I ordered a glass dip pen, and discovered that it is exactly what I was looking for. Only to discover that ink is now my arch nemesis. I am hoping to learn more about inks, and diluting processes here. As well as the possibilities of new pens to explore.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
