Any Experience With Online_Brands (Ebay Seller) ?

All,

I am looking at some MB pens and I came across this seller on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/usr/online_brands

The prices are all over, but the one particular model I am looking at (1912) is about $100 below average.

They have good and numerous ratings, but as we all know : MB is one of the most counterfeited brands :(

Thanks in advance for any insight

I don't have any experience with the seller, but you will be able to tell a counterfeit 1912. I think the closest offer on the market is the Hero 718, which, speaking from experience, doesn't hold a candle to the 1912. I expect that you would easily get a refund through Paypal if things go south. Good luck on your potential purchase, the 1912 is an incredible pen.

"Why me?"
"That is a very Earthling question to ask, Mr. Pilgrim. Why you? Why us for that matter? Why anything? Because this moment simply is. Have you ever seen bugs trapped in amber?"
"Yes."

"Well, here we are, Mr. Pilgrim, trapped in the amber of this moment. There is no why."

Ha!

Worst $80 I ever spent. Or at least way up there. The fill mechanism already gave out (the nib extends and retracts, but the captured converter no longer works and I can't find an obvious way to take it apart to take a look).

I should have just put that money towards the 1912 fund to begin with.

Do you have both? How do their weights compare? The 718 is super heavy.

Bought a Patron 4810 from them. Came sealed. Bought a 149 as well. All legit. New. No issues.

Well I jumped in. I'll report back when I get the pen.

So when you hear that 1912 hype ...

... yeah it's all true. The pen is that good.

Now as far as the transaction:

I received the pen in two days via DHL. I was bit surprised that it came from Tel Aviv (listing said NY). The seal on the box was open, but as far as I can tell, only so that they could put a price sticker on the inside cover. Again, supposing that it could be put on display.

The pen itself looks pristine (not even the micro scratches inevitably caused by capping/uncapping repeatedly).

My theory is that these guys are store inventory liquidators for luxury goods stores. Sticker said ₪4269, which is basically MSRP.

All in all : I'm happy with the purchase experience and of course the pen itself.

From their listings (bold is my emphasis):

"Note: We may be required to ship your purchase from an international warehouse that is different to that stated in the listing under "item location". This is done for logistics reasons only and whilst rare, is sometimes necessary. Please be assured that your dispatch and delivery time estimates and customs status should not be changed by this."

Hi all, I am new in the forum.

I am too looking at online_brands on eBay and the price is pretty good to me.

I am looking to buy my first Montblanc 149 and I do not want to risk anything. Had a check online, online_brands looks to be very reputable on eBay but I would like to get a second opinion here just to confirm. Thanks.

Got my pen today from online_brands, received within 3 days to Australia. But DHL tracking says it is shipped from Israel - Tel Aviv and the pen does look like genuine and new though.

149 is not that smooth as compared to my caran dache leman and omas arco paragon and the nib is a bit stiffer as well.

just wondering is everyone's 149 like this.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
