IMO, that is a good enough reason to buy a product irrespective of the quirkiness.

I have always found the CS to be stellar.

 

I don't always agree with their products and pricing, but I definitely try to support them at every opportunity.

 

 

By all 4 you mean Matt black, Piano black, Piano white and Palladium?

 

You probably can buy the other two if you procure them abroad.

IIRC, Indian pricing is almost double compared to US. Even Europe would offer considerable savings.

 

I'm saving for the MontBlanc 149 now.

It does have quirks, but none of these issues are present on mine.

The drying out issues are sorted in Gen 2.

 

Is there some easy way to distinguish between a Gen 1 and Gen 2 Dialog 3? If I buy used, I want to make sure I avoid Gen 1.

As you can summarise from not only this post but a few others Dialog 3 Line itself has a few issues.

 

The easiest way to identify is the converter section (The Nib, Feed and Inking Section) now has been provided with a see through section to check on the ink level. The Gen 1 didn't have that.

 

Gen 1 also had some alignment issues of the Clip and the 2 parallel lines that run through upper side of the coating (main Body of the Pen).

 

Internally I am unsure what changes have been brought about. Perhaps a few other members can highlight the working intricacies of the Dialog 3.
