OOOO Thank you!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Im surprised they went with silver bits for an orange ink, I would think gold bits would pair better. Even still, Im looking forward to seeing photos.

The bottles are larger.

Hmmm. I'd have to see this one in person. Because the labeling and the bottle cap are saying "orange" to me, but "cornelian" suggests redder than that: https://www.doverjewelry.com/blog/the-cornelian-a-semiprecious-stone-for-antique-jewelry/

Well, we'll know for sure in a few weeks, won't we?

The 1670/1798 inks have been hit and miss for me. I tried a sample of (original formula) Rouge Hematite -- just to see what the fuss was about, and ended up liking the color a LOT more than I expected. Bleu Océan was a disappointment (especially the original version) because of the hype. Stormy Grey? That one was "screw a test sample -- I WANT this!" Emeralds of Chivor? Didn't like the base color. The brown one (whatever it's called)? Meh. Amethyste De L'Oural? OOOH PRETTY! So this one? I'll wait for the reviews.

Oh Ruth, we share the same inky thoughts...

The 1670/1798 inks have been hit and miss for me.

  • I tried a BOTTLE (original formula) Rouge Hematite, "I like it, I love it, I want some more of it."
  • Bleu Océan was a disappointment - seriously, it's blah
  • Stormy Grey? When I use gray, I use this.
  • Emeralds of Chivor? Didn't like the base color, but I still use it.
  • The brown one (whatever it's called)? Meh. But I think that's because I don't use a lot of brown.
  • Amethyste De L'Oural? ONE OF MY NEW FAVs.

As someone who wears carnelian on a regular basis (one of the 3 stone rings I wear as part of the jewelry for my professional mermaid character) it can be and often is a strongly orange leaning red. I am imagining that this ink with be an orange red and not truly one or the other.

I am also probably going to go after a bottle of this because I love the imagery the name suggests, which is a terrible buying strategy but a great marketing strategy.

I understand.

Personally, I love lipstick colors.

My thoughts (almost) exactly. I have not tried the new Amethyste ink, but if you recommend it, I may have to give it a try.

The new "Cornaline" is speaking —no, yelling!— to me. I just hope that Herbin has widened the mouth of the bottle.

1798 bottle mouths are wider than the 1670s.

YES, you will like it and the bottle is better. I'm calling Dromgoole's to place my order.

I hope it tends more towards Orange. I have no plans to get all the Diamine shimmering inks, but one J Herbin a year makes a good gift idea.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
