I saw this Vac and wondering if the lighting is over exposed or that the pen was placed in warm water at one time?

I would not pay more than $10 just for the blind cap assembly.

Actually, I was thinking that the color looked weirdly interesting. But unless I can score one of the candy flake ones for cheap (unlikely) or the rumored "Silver Web" actually exists -- I really dislike the look of the Golden Web and just sort of blink every time someone gleefully announces they've gotten their hands on one (but silver might be a different story, if it's actually real) -- for some semi-affordable price (which is even more unlikely) I pretty much have all the Vac colors I want; every time I go "hmm, Burgundy Pearl" my brain goes "Naah -- you have the Red Shadow Wave Junior Lockdown already... and it's prettier."

But at that price it's not weirdly interesting *enough* to me... Plus, I'm feeling a bit broke at the moment. So, if someone here does get this, I want to see pix of what color it REALLY is....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Silver web pens actually exist. So does a green version of the web.

Something's up with the white balance of the camera. The pen looks gray in one of the close-ups.

You can see the same "effect" comparing the colors in the first and tenth picture in this listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-KAWECO-SPORT-V16-B-Gold-585-14C-Nib-Fountain-Pen-Ballpoint-619-Set/272913346345?hash=item3f8ae72f29:g:jxYAAOSwJmVZ1J5w

If you're interested, ask the seller to place the pen on a sheet of white paper and send you a few pictures like that. Or ask him what color the pen really is. Daylight, unless you're under direct sunlight, is blue.

Here in Parker country a Parker looking like it does would only fetch $5.

Here is a photo of a pen lot I bought some four years ago for only $20.

Why would I pay $60 for a whitewashed vac... I will take a chance on pen parts from time to time [ most of the time ]..

There's definitely SOMETHING amiss with the body plastic. If not hot water, perhaps an attempt at polishing gone horribly wrong. Between that and the Curvex point (which is slightly interesting in the way it replaces tipping with a firing-pin dent), the $60 they're asking is... optimistic.

It's mainly pens, just now....

Oh, good heavens. He's got a blog now, too.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
