Lamy Unobtanium 2016/17 Le Ink Piffle Package Petrol And Dark Lilac Round 3

Yes, this includes Lamy Petrol AND Dark Lilac!

A VERY generous FPNer has gone to a lot of effort to make this happen. I am only the shipper and poster, the mysterious benefactor has purchased, packaged and paid for CONUS shipping for of all these wonderful PIFs.

I'm going to do this in a few rounds, the first round had 10 recipients. This round will have five *but maybe more.

Here is what is in the package:

A sample vial of 2016 LE Lamy Dark Lilac & a sample vial Or cartridge of 2017 LE Lamy Petrol. This means that some will receive 2 sample vials (one of each ink) and others will receive a sample vial of Dark Lilac and a Lamy Petrol cartridge. What the recipients will receive will also be random. Though if you have a Lamy pen, you can include that in your post so that I try and distribute the cartridges to people who have Lamy pens.

In a protective pocket:

Staples Bagasse lined (no longer available) (IF=ink friendly, thin OS=one side use)

Rhodia graph (IF, TS=two side use)

Tom Bihn lined/graph/plain (Not IF, demonstrates feathering issues)

Whitelines (IF, and TS depending on ink and nib)

To be eligible, you must have 100 posts and not received one of these packages before. Post your reply here. This round will end when I have five eligible parties.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Now that I finally have a Lamy pen, I'm a little more interested in Lamy inks to go with it. :) While I don't always do so, I generally like to put the same brand pen and ink together. My preference would be for the Petrol, since it looks like a color I'd be more likely to use, and either a cartridge or a sample vial would be fine. Whatever you decide is OK by me though. Thanks for the offer!

P.S. -- I do meet the post count requirement, and I have not received one of these Lamy Unobtanium packages before.

OOPS. Please excuse me, Amberlea.

I was in a hurry to finish my internet work, searches, reading, etc due to begin making sure everything was ready for my daughter's hosting of her over-two-nights near-end-of-school-party for several of her friends. (She does the hosting, I do the preparation and work, LOL.)

On Friday evening, I only read your PIF post through the inks being offered.

Now that I have this very quiet morning while my daughter and her friends sleep late, I have read the entire PIF and find I am ineligible due to fewer than 100 posts on FPN.

Thank you for doing this. But I'm not getting on the list. I got two bottles of Dark Lilac when I had a chance (and am kicking myself that I didn't go ahead and order a third one). As for Petrol? It didn't interest me (neither did the pen for that matter) -- it's just not a color I like.

Hi Amberlea,

I have received paper from you before in the Co-razy exchange but never an ink sample. If this makes me eligible, I would enjoy trying out Dark Lilac and Petrol. These would have to be samples unless the Lamy cartridges are compatible with Parker (I have one P45) or standard international (a couple of Indian pens with Jowo nib units.)

I am all set for paper and would prefer not to get any more at this time. I think you have my address, but if not please let me know and I will send it by PM.

Thanks,

J

Okay, I think I have five so the offer is closed.

Be sure to send me your full name and address.

Everyperson who asked including those who were generally not eligible should send me a PM, I think we can work out something.

I received my package today, just as described. Having a Lamy pen, I got a cartridge of the Petrol ink and a sample vial of the Dark Lilac. I'm looking forward to trying out both the ink and my recently-acquired Lamy pen as soon as one of the ones I'm currently carrying runs out of ink. I'll try out the paper, too; I just happened to be more interested in the ink. Thanks to the "mysterious benefactor" who supplied the items for the PIF and to amberleadavis for sending them out on behalf of said donor.

Thank you, amberleadavis, for all of your hard work on this!

Yep, so true. The packaging, in multiple zip lock bags and sticky Washi tape has to be really time-consuming. Unless one is OK with cutting everything open with a scissors, just opening the packaging can be time-consuming.

Received mine Thursday but will not ink a pen until after my daughter and I return from our Road Trip beginning after her half-day of school tomorrow.

My daughter and I both thank you, Amberlea (and your benefactor) for providing samples of these inks.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
