Woo hoo - my Ranga 8B arrived yesterday - Premium ebonite in Blue/ Pink/Pale Yellow Swirl!

Here's a pic of the pen on its own (with a black-coated JoWo nib unit I already had in my collection):

fpn_1529765299__ranga_8b_alone.jpg

And here's the pen in comparison to my Model 5, Model 4C (I think?), and Model 8. It's the shortest pen tip-to-tip (by a small margin) - but definitely a little larger in diameter than the 8, with a perfectly-proportioned grip section (not that the narrower 8 is too narrow...).

Thanks again to Mr M.P. Kandan his excellent communication - and to Mr M.S. Pandurangan for his amazing artistry! This is my 8th ebonite pen from Ranga - probably time to stop buying more, but I said that after the last one...

Thanks a lot for your nice words Sir. Your Picture is indded great.

I look forward to that when you find the time! :) Meanwhile it's way past bedtime in my timezone.

Definitely interested in ordering now. The range of colors offered is dizzying and it's hard to choose! Will probably settle for the premium ebonite though, because I've been waiting for all of them to become available in a group buy setting. It has been a very long time!

If I do order this Ranga 8B will be my fourth Ranga pen (all group buys),and sixth ebonite pen in general.

attachicon.gif PhotoGrid_1529773820031.jpg

This is my current ebonite collection. From left to right: Ranga Model 5, Ranga Model 8 (regular), Ranga Model 4, Noodlers Konrad, Edison Morgan.

Isn't it interesting that we both have the Model 5 in the same ebonite, but the pattern has come through so differently! (For my pen the green is only visible on the grip section) It really goes to demonstrate the wild variations in ebonite patterns. Opening the box for the first time will yield a surprise!

Thanks for posting the great pic. Hope you like all the pens.

My Pen arrived on Saturday - Shipping was very fast to Germany (10 Days).

I ordered the Premium Ebonite P5 Blue White Swirl Clipless with a Jowo Chrome Fine Nib. It is one of the Pens shown in the first Post .

And here is a little Comparison to some other Ranga Models (Majestic, Emperor and Model 3c):

I need to try the pen throughout this week but i think the Model 8b could become my new Favorite. The Build Quality is amazing as always and the Blue White Ebonite is simply stunning. The section is very comfortable and quite different from my other Ranga Pens.

The communication and the whole Ordering Process was flawless.

Thank you M.P.Kandan for another great Group Buy!

Did you try the flex nib already? How did it write?

It is hard as a nut... the tines did not give way even with use of force...

The nib is wet as most eyedropper nibs are. I would say on the medium side

Plus there are too many pens in the queue therefore will give time to it later on...

Eyedroppers are usually quite juicy.

I have experienced the burping from a Oliver 2. Quink Blue on grey trousers... Three Times.

Ranga 4 ED never as it is still full.

bad burping on the page from several indian ED freebies, Oliver, Fellowship.

No burping from Ranga EDs yet, I am happy with the behaviour so far,

when the ink stops flowing, it's because it has run out, if ink is still sufficient the pen writes immediately (I usually keep EDs in horizontal position), no burping or increased flow experienced before ink is close to running out.

The main difference I notice between the Rangas and the cheaper mentioned indian pens is the considerable size difference in the feed, much larger and longer in the Rangas, but have no evidence that this may have any influence on the better behaviour.

If the freebies burp, maybe the nib&feed assembly is not pushed in far enough. Or you could have an air leak because of asymmetry. Try pushing the assembly a little further in, and/or maybe turning it a little. Also, how far have you filled that barrel? Is it all the way up to the threads?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
