Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Great introduction to a great ink! And also a great color, indeed reminiscent of a real pencil. For those in need, Super5 (written in one word) is the name of the company which sells these. All in all, Frankfurt is one of their six inks. They are manufactured by R&K and are all really waterproof! I also wholeheartedly recommend their FP.

What does the FP look like?

It seems they now offer 4 types of FPs. When I bought mine (the Super5 M) about a year ago, they only had that one type (I think). It comes in 7 colors (not only the transparent variety on screen) so I bought the Dublin variant, fitting nicely to the Dublin ink which is also dark green:

I now see that I'll have to get the Super5 07 as well. Check out that site! It looks like the Super5 07s are the same as the Super5 Ms -- same colors, same prices -- except that they have a 0.7-mm nib instead of the M-nib. Ditto as re the other two Super5 FPs, with 0.5-mm and 1.5-mm nibs. I mean, for that dough, great quality-pens !!!!!!! NOTE: IMO you should buy the high-tech SUPER 5 Ink Converter separately, although an International Standard converter and/or cart will also fit.

Thanks to you & this post I may also be receiving a pen identical to yours!

I did not see the US listed as a country for shipment from the link you provided BUT Super5's Facebook page had a post on March of this year that their pens were now available in the US & mentioned a store called WET PAINT, as the first to carry their product. A quick search yielded WET PAINT as an independent art store in St Paul MN & listed their telephone number, which a lovely woman answered & took my order for the pen, over same phone.

She just called to confirm they were out of the Broad (1.5) nibs but would be receiving some in their next order & would then post the pen to me upon arrival. The pens are $39.95 (with post $9.00) & if searching the WET PAINT website, typing in "SUPER5" into the search bar, works best for showing the pens available.

Interesting. Does the US price include the converter, or does that have to be ordered separately?

Hoping to see a review when it comes in.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

The site in English I included above says that you should order their converter separately. Click that site or copy its URL (https://papierlabor.de/en/shop/converters/super5-ink-converter/) or type it into your browser. I doubt that any retailer will include the converter free of charge.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
