Tom, if you are looking for a pencil like ink that is waterproof, Frankfurt is it.

Yes. I'm looking for just such an ink.

May I please ask to clarify: Is it called Rohrer and Klingner Frankfurt?

I ask because where I work and live there are numerous stringent restrictions and limitations which affect shopping for “foreign” inks.

However, several kind-hearted former students, now friends, generously look for me, therefore I want to provide the correct name to them.

Thank you for he sketch above. It's compelling!

Tom the ink is made by Rohrer and Klingner but the line is called Super5 and the color is Frankfurt. (Dehli is one of my favorites)

Here are some links.

Hope that helps.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Thank you so very much!

The links which you've very kindly provided are exactly what I need.

This is a completely new ink to me, and definitely most appreciated.

Somewhere around here, Lapis had a link to the company that also sold the Super5 Calligraphy pen which he really liked.

I agree, these nibs are good to try stub nibs. Out of the box mine (0.7 and 1.1) were dry and showed a lot of hard starts.

After I've opened the tines a bit, they showed less hard starts, but my Lamy 1.5 stub nib also has hard starts so I consider it a common issue and move on. (Actually now that I think about it, my Pluminix stub nibs don't show any hard starts, maybe it's not that common an issue...)

By the way, my 0.7 nib is round-tipped, has the sphere tipping material and zero line variation. Since these are generic nibs, I may have gotten a wrongly printed nib. But the 1.1 is nice.

the 0.7 is just a regular old medium nib. I have 3 sets of these nibs, that's just how the 0.7 is.

I also really enjoy these italic nibs. they're all very smooth and the flow has been good.

For the cost it is spectacular and I admit, they are really quite nice to use.

UPDATE -

  1. Price has lowered below $2.
  2. These pens will take Lamy cartridges.
  3. Cartridge converter will fit my Lamy Safari.
  4. AND the nib fit into my Moonman Wancai.

@Honey, would these work for your stacked nibs?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
