Apparently a 0.5mm NIB

Was pleasantly surprised that it wrote as well as it did .

Is a bit of a dry writer .

Cants LEFT well

Cants RIGHT not quite as well , but still writes .

Very insensitive to writing angles . ( Writes inverted rather well )

It's not smooth , but at the same time it does not tear into the paper . Very consistent !

It does dry on the back sweep doing horizontal 8's , but then it is a dry writer .

Ink sack was not too hard to fill , no leaks no burps so far ..

There was a very slight hesitancy to start after 24 hours , very slight . ( Captured on the video )

Over all , a rather pleasant pen so far .

Thanks for the review. I've seen this pen on ebay and was also curious about it. Is it just me or does the nib remind me of a Shaeffer?

Sheaffer nib resemblance is over 9000!!! I have one and I like the nib except for that "made in China" stamped across the nib. Put it in the clip of a trim ring at least...geez wing wing

Shame they stopped the production of this model

My understanding is that Wing Sung was a subsiduary of Hero. Hero ran into difficulty and Wing Sung stopped production. Around 2012 I believe. The Wing Sung name has been licensed to at least three companies including Green Stationery and Shanghai Jindian which produce different models. Shanghai Jindian makes the 600 series. I don't know if anyone hold the licence for the 200 series.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Is the wing sung 601a newer or is it an old model? I recently saw it on ebay, and it is a wing sung 233 with a vacumatic type filling mechanism.

I believe the consensus is that they're using up old stock nibs. Given how awesome the 601 is, and my experience with their old conical nibs being similarly good, I would not hesitate to try the 601a. Thanks for the reminder that I need to get one before they're gone

if one is OK & privy to a metal and slim pen, with the smaller version of the conical nib I think the 840 / 841 both made a very nice pen and the are C/C filling ( but you need to find a slim piston converter to fit it as it come original with an Aerometric converter

I received both a 233 and a 235 (separate times) as "freebie" gifts from other pen orders and finally got around to inking them up the other day. Pretty good -- except the feeder tube on the 235 is broken (so the pen oozes ink between the top of the nib and the section). Does anyone know if other converters will fit? So far I've tried Lamy (Safari style), Parker and Pilot to no avail.

Are you unscrewing the pen at the chrome trim ring , if so you had unscrew the supposed to be sealed section, the barrel unscrew at the junction where the TigP plated metal barrel meets the plastic

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
