I would love to hear about your experience. The steel versions of these did not work well for me.

What pen would the nib unit go in?

I'm also curious to hear your thoughts - especially if you have one of their steel flex nibs - I have an Indus with a flex nib and quite like it. Would love to know how the gold nib compares.

Looks like the Indus can be upgraded to a gold flex nib for $99 extra. I might try the steel flex first. Seems a bit of an upgrade for a $17 pen.

I'm going to stick it in my Triveni Jr..

Mine is the 1st edition Triveni that takes the #5.5 rather than the #6 nib.

The one in the pen now has a FPR s-steel w/ flex-mod that works ok but is less flexible than a unmodified Creaper.

Otherwise, the #5.5 gold should go nicely into a Himalayan.

Yes, I don't think the pen itself is worthy of that expensive a nib, but it does take the same size nib, and I know what it's like, so a comparison by someone else who has both would be useful. I could then consider finding another pen for the 5.5 nib (or just be content with the one I've got).

I really wish FPR would come out with a thinner gauge (more soft) stainless steel flex nib with a XXF tip.

I'm thinking it would be very well received.

In fact...It could just be a hybrid-pen killer.

Could be nail-benders nib is ground a bit to much foreword. My Ahab Mod is ground further back and took the 'hard' semi-flex Ahab nib to a nice Easy Full Flex; first stage of superflex in my 1/2-1/2 flex system.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

The cheapest lessons are from those who learned expensive lessons. Ignorance is best for learning expensive lessons.

This one I call the "boat profile".

There isn't much left of it beyond what touches the feed.

It had about the same flex as a Creaper but lacked snap.

I pretty much gave up on the s-steel FPR nibs after about a half dozen tries at various modifications.

It does give a pretty good illustration of my preferred tip grind though.

(everything off the top & narrow the sides but don't mess too much with the bottom)

Can't wait for your review! I have also been waiting for this one (apparently have to wait for my next salary though lol).

What does 585 means?

What does 585 means?

It refers to the gold content of the nib, 14k gold is 57.5% gold.

I am quite excited to hear how these work out.

"Oh deer."

I'm going to work on it when I get more time but it isn't looking good at this point.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
