What's Your Favorite Yellow Pen?

I was wondering what I might get for my first Pelikan. That looks like a contender!

Sadly, these seem to be impossible to find now, even when living in China. After much searching, I could only find one yellow version available on Taobao, but the seller looked like a scam and hadn't sold anything before, so I didn't want to take the risk. So sad, because it'd be one of the least expensive yellow and black pens out there if available! :gaah:

The yellow Baoer 801 is still available from some sellers on fleabay.co.uk, if that's any help. Although it's yellow and silver, not black, and it has a hooded nib. ;)

Every time I asked my three-year-old what he wanted for Christmas he said "yellow pens."

So here's what he got:

Gold Star

LZ001A (thanks to Mech-for-i for introducing this pen on FPN), Kaco Sky rollerball, Kaco Sky fountain pen.

The Sky is actually a great pen for kids!

Behold the yellow!!

Nice! I like the look of the demonstrator. (The Kaco Sky?)

I haven't bought any more yellow pens, but the Platinum Procyon citron yellow is on the wishlist. Bright, but with just a wee hint of restraint.

Maybe after that Parson's Essential.

Yeah, that's the Kaco Sky. It's available in both opaque yellow (same color as the rollerball next to it in the photo) and the demonstrator.

Uses a Schmidt nib, so it's one of those Chinese pens that writes like a (cheaper) German one.

The Platinum Procyon is tempting, but I may pass on getting another Parson's Essential because mine rarely gets used due to its weight.

This has been on my wish list for a few months. What shade is the yellow? Is it a bold, vibrant yellow or more subtle like the outside of an egg yolk?

I've only one yellow pen -- Aurora Ipsilon.

A big stupid yellow celluloid eclipse oversize with brown bands and green celluloid DEVO hats for the top and bottom.

it's got a big dumb semiflex warranted nib and I love it.

Why stupid? It's cool and definitely unusual! Did they use the leftover material for the ends? (Not trying to be clever here because I have heard of such things.) The factory workers must have had fun picking the combinations. And I got a sudden urge to climb that green top :D

Onoto Magna Classic Yellow + Parker Duofold Centennial Mandarin Yellow

That Onoto looks amazing! I didn't know Onoto made yellow pens as well pack in the day. I'm going to have to find out of those. Thanks for sharing!

Hahahaha totally Devo hats!! An entire pen in that green would be nice, but just the caps? I'd be so tempted to paint them black.

Thank you, TruthPil. The modern Onoto Classic Yellow is a tiny bit more yellow than the Parker Duofold Centennial Mandarin Yellow which in comparison is a little brighter lemon color. Onoto said that they also offer the same pen with the cap top the same color as the rest of the pen, but I prefer the yellow/black combo. I wish they had one with black on both ends, but this one is also very nice.

I agree, black ends gives a bit of a bumblebee feeling which I really like. :)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
