Mini Review Of Hero 7055

I have been trying to keep up with the Hero 70xx series of pens but somehow overlooked this one. I bought it in metallic grey and a pale metallic gold that looks more like anodized aluminum than actual gold. They also come in black and in salmon. I paid $1,79 each postpaid. The pens seem to be made mostly of metal but are not as heavy as some of the older Jinhaos. The nibs are the Genius Iridium model used in many Hero pens for years. I found them wet and smooth but a bit stiffer than I would like. They are somewhere in the M to F range.

The two most notable things abut the exterior are the wide matte colored gold waistband and the big ball on the end of the clip like a Sheaffer No Nonsense. That clip is very stiff and the ball is formed like a jingle bell with four corners meeting on the underside. I am concerned that could be hard on pockets.

The section is gold colored. Unlike many others in the 70xx series it does not have flats. Instead there are four alternating smooth and ridged areas that might provide a better grip.

I am using the supplied converters but the nipple looks like standard international and both the short and long versions of that fit in the barrel.

The pen looks well put together. In general I have been very happy with the 70xx pens. The main purchase considerations are likely to be looks and what type of cartridge the various models take -- Hero 359 or 0028 or international (or Maybe Waterman in one case). Five other 70xx pens are mentioned in #7 here

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
