Anyone Ever Try Seitz-Kreuznach Ink?

Coincidentally, I just today filled a pen with Seitz-Kreuznach Navy. It's definitely a grey-ish blue; but in a wet pen, it reminds me of a nice, old-school blue-black. The container is another matter. On the one hand, the shape of the 100ml bottle is striking--it's like a liquor flask (without the curve) or the flat container that medicine used to come in (why am haunted by memories of Castoria?). On the other hand, filling directly from the bottle can be a real pain. I'll probably end up decanting it into something more user-friendly.

How long ago did you buy the bottle? Today I looked everywhere for a bottle of Seitz-Kreuznach Navy Blau – amazon, ebay, their own website. There are none out there.

Lined paper makes a prison of the page.

Hey Antenocitus I have an almost full bottle of navy blue that I am willing to give away, I just inked half a converter once. But the cheapest shipping from France to Germany would be 9,5 € through Mondial Relay which is not very cheap. Or we could swap inks, well tell me what you think...

I bought it, along with the grey, some 4 months ago from Seitz-Kreutznach website.

Nice offer, thank you! I ordered some navy blue cartridges, which I expect will arrive in the next couple of days, so let me see how I like the colour and I'll get back to you.

I was just browsing Seitz-Kreuznach and noticed the excellent Navy Blue is back in stock (as is Cognac).

Annoyingly, rather than listing all items always and merely displaying that they are out of stock, when Seitz is out of something they hide it completely. It can be confusing for people, thinking the item is no longer available, when really it's merely sold out.

In any case I have about half a dozen of their inks (including that loathed Tundra Green ;P) and I adore them all. Their Cognac is one of my favorite inks ever.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
