  • 3 weeks later...

Only a single seller for this on ebay UK, and apparently they're running low - already a couple of colours sold out. Thinking what little I've heard so far of chinese pen batches, is it something I should jump on as soon as possible, or is it something that'd be restocked*, or possible to buy through ebay.com?

I'll get one anyway, but for reference...

* Seeing I've already run into a 'last one left' seller who magically produced another 'last' item after I bought it.

Seems stock is fairly consistent and available on its home market dealer's online shop, though I like the wood I am not too fond of the styling. Instead I order for myself a single M5 in Ebony.

Just published my review - https://youtu.be/vjlfQ-ngP5I. I like the pen, well made, great design. Bent nib writes well.

Thanks Chris, I’ll look at the review. I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all your reviews. Even though they have led to me accumulating a lot of Chinese pens!

Thanks for the advice and review, respectively, Mech-for-i and Chris. :)

My M5 arrived late yesterday afternoon, and I must say I am happy with it ... The styling is a good mix of old and new. with the pen capped, its exhibiting contemporary style while with the cap off it reminds me of very old Eye Dropped of the 20s. Frankly you would not want to post this cap, its pretty back weighted if doing so. The cap is screw in normal fashion but the section is screw in reverse threaded ( left handed ) , a typical engineer solution for something that require threading both end but not wanting to get threaded off ( prime example a bicycle pedal ). There's even an arrow carved onto the section to tell you which way to turn to unscrew. I like the way the section blend in with the barrel without any step.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
