And all this time I thought you were "just" a Marine.

Chrissy,

You are absolutely in the right. I have overreacted and have overreached. I sincerely apologize and hope we can make some efforts to fix an online relationship that I damaged before it could really be fully established.

And, If I break the rules, please DO hit the report button. Many members here on FPN actually send me PMs to clarify conflicts in posts and opinions. You've never contacted me in this manner, notr have I contacted you.

However, before you slop all the (bleep) on me, I'd ask that you review your responses and the innuendo in other responses to my posts. II admit that I have some amount of blame in our feud, but I'm not the only one to blame.

Perhaps we can establish a truce and continue forward?

Thank you for reaching out. :) Let's just move forward. I don't routinely contact members by PM to clarify opinions in posts. I just want a peaceful life and the ability to post on this forum. We managed to co-exist before, so hopefully we can go back to how it was.

  • 3 weeks later...

Dear all. I appreciate that I received so much advises. I would like to clarify that the droplets trapped can be seen from the ink window. As shown in the attach photo, the droplet seems like locating in between the piston and internal wall of ink window. These water droplets will not move by flicking or shaking the pen. Moving the piston up and down also could not wipe it off. It stays there after flushing the pen and leaving the pen a few days. I wondered if this is normal..

I had this problem on a 149 two days ago. It looked like ink was behind the actual piston seal. Just like your spot in your photo, but black ink. In reality, his doesn't affect anything except our sensibilities. However, I cannot stand for this, so I pulled the piston, and wiped it down. No more problems.

There really is no significant problem, but if this bothers you, invest in a good MB piston wrench and join our little club. You'll probably be glad you did.

Just saw this. Despite that you call yourself old (repeatedly, BTW!!!), I don't believe it. I think you are really a 44-yr old, scholar with 2 degrees, married with 2 kids, who are both probably excelling (1 in sport, 1 in academics). Oh, and you also run half-marathons competitively in your age group, and probably at about 2:05:00.

Another photo showing the piston was at drawn up position.

Is that pen really bluish purple?

This photo taken under my desk lamp that might altered the colour. It was navy blue. Almost like Pilot Custom 74 blue.

As this is my first MB and I have no courage to dissemble it. Lol... But I'm worry it will grow fungus if i keep it in a pen pouch for long period.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
