Hello From Upstate New York

I just got into fountain pens, less than a month ago. Recently a friend of mine was given a fountain pen, in a case, in a box. I won't go into details here, but in a more appropriate forum. The reason I'm here is to find more out about this pen. Could someone direct me where to go, to appropriately post pictures and get info on this pen? Thank you.

Thanks, Fred. Any idea where I can get info on the pen I referred to? I looked at the brand forums, but I don't see Tibaldi. Is there a way to create a new forum in brands?

Hello and welcome. If you know the name of the pen scroll through the forums and you should find the appropriate space. If you're not sure of the pen's identity take a photograph or two and post in in "fountain and dip pens pens first stop" with your questions. Lots of smart, knowledgeable people here who would be glad to help you.

Hello and Welcome to FPN!! Glad to have you as a member!!

Tibaldi is Italian I believe, so the Italian sub forum would probably be best!

Thank you, PAKMAN. Now I'm struggling to upload a photo. I guess it takes some retaining. I looked at the upload manual and it says there's supposed to be an upload button at the top of the page. This doesn't exist. I instead, crafted a post in a different forum and it says my attachment is too big. Not getting very far. This must take some practice.

Thanks! Are there tricks to reducing the size of picture files in order to upload them?

There are but how you do it depends on the software you are using to work with the image. I can help if you are using a Mac.

Pakman was, as usual, correct. Tibaldi is Italian.

And welcome to the friendliest online forum I know of from a Jamestown, NY native. Enjoy your time here.

Hello and welcome to FPN, from Cape Town, South Africa.

To sit at one's table on a sunny morning, with four clear hours of uninterruptible security, plenty of nice white paper, and a [fountain] pen - that is true happiness!

Welcome !

It takes some "seniority" to post images. After a few more postings and a few more weeks, more features should become available. Meanwhile , work on downsizing the image to fewer pixels.

Space is limited.

I look forward to seeing your pictures.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
