After 9 months of refining the machining and finishing process, adjusting the programming, testing out tooling, and pushing to make quality improvements; we feel that we've mastered the process of working with plastics in our machines. Our goal all along was to use our machines to their full capabilities to decrease loss and flaws and provide a nearly finished product on each pen we manufacture. The process was long and somewhat arduous, Bill Karas probably pulled out more hair fighting with some of the intricacies of each material during this process than he's lost in his entire 20+ year career as a machinist. Suffice to say, during this process we've identified ways to increase the quality while decreasing the time each pen needs to make. As such we can pass that along to you, the customer, in the form of reduced pricing. If you want to know more about this, we've gone into some detail on it in one of our latest

.

For those of you asking just what this means, let's break it down. Our Standard Decograph in Black and Green was released with an MSRP of $165 dollars. This pricing has been consistent with all of our Limited Release Decographs to this point, including the last two, 1703 and 1801. With the improvements and changes we've made, we can now offer those pens and most future releases for $140 dollars. But we've also repriced our premium nib upgrades on the Decograph. You'll now be able to get most of our Decograph offerings with a Titanium nib for $165 dollars, previously the Titanium upgrade was priced at $205. Also our 14k Gold nib upgrade is being reduced from $255 dollars to $215 dollars. These prices are active on our website now, and will be reflected on most of our future releases.

We do have a few of the 1703 Winter's Tale and 1801 Sleeping Beauty LE pens left, if you've been waiting, now is the time to act.

MINI K CLEARANCE

After analyzing our product over the last year, we've come to a point in time where we have decided to discontinue the Mini K pens. While they initially sold well and filled a void in our product line, they steeply dropped off after the initial release. We received a lot of feedback on the pens in general and after waiting and really considering our options; we finally decided to stop manufacturing on the Mini K and sell through our existing stock.

For that reason, we've slashed the price on both the Render K Mini and Fountain K Mini by $30.00. You can now get a Render K Mini for the ultra-low price of $30.00 dollars and a Fountain K Mini for $45.00 dollars. Yes you heard us right, fully machined Karas Pen Co pens for less than $50 bucks. These pens will still carry our lifetime service guarantee and our manufacturers warranty. They're selling fast, if you want one or ten, now's the time to act!

Why I Write Pt. 2

Now that we have the long and relatively boring origin story out of the way we can focus on more important things. The ideas that drive me to write. My “writer’s ethos” for lack of a better term. I’ve been told my motivation to write is both sentimental and romantic. That it lacks a lot of mechanical reasoning. I’m perfectly okay with that. I don’t ascribe to the idea that writing has to have a designed purpose...(READ MORE)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
