Hi!

 

My aunt was a major hoarder -- she bought everything you can imagine at auctions but she wasn't into selling. Well, I sure am because it has to be done. It took stumbling on some mechanical pencils and fountain pens to find out there is a whole world of pen lovers out there! I have a question about an unmarked combination fountain pen/mechanical pencil so I will post it under 'members helping members'....just wanted to introduce myself and say how wonderful I think it is to find this group of people who esteem writing instruments so highly!

'Members Helping Members' would not be the right place to post your questions as it is about members helping each other on questions relating to use of forums only.

 

'Fountain And Dip Pens-First Step' would, rather, be the right place for such a post.

Welcome !

 

I suppose that there was work better done in pencil than ink. Are those days gone ? While fountain pen & pen sets came in all levels of quality, I have never encountered a "top tier" combination pen/pencil. Seems they were popular (certainly practical), as EDC's, in the 1950's. I, too, have several, none of which has a brand identification.

Thank you! and thank you to Mitto for the posting tip -- I tried to delete my post to "members helping members" but could not...anyone know how?

Also, are there settings anywhere where I can add an avatar?

I'm going to go look for your post. The pen you mention sounds interesting.

 

As to deleting your post, I don't believe you can, though you might ask a moderator. Easiest thing is to EDIT it to say "never mind" or some such.

 

You can give yourself an avatar in "My Account," wherein you can write a bio and other such things. Good luck, and most of all, have fun!

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
