Two Fountain Pen With Magnetic Piston Filler

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, for more than two years i enjoy creating fountain pens and lately i have developed a magnetic charging system. It is with great pleasure that i present these two pens with the magnetic piston filler system. I made the first pen with orange and black ebonite and inside the tank there is the piston with a spherical magnet and it is moved by the magnetic base. I also made the support to keep the pen in a horizontal position. The second i called Quadro Pen and it is acrylic and also the cap is magnetic. I usually use Bock and Jowo nibs. The capacity of ink in the ebonite pen is 2,4 ml instead in the other it is 1.5ml.

Gianluca, great job, good looking pens and innovative approach!

Thank you for sharing.

Question - my pen pouch with magnetic clip attracts everything metal from the desk... was “magnetism” the reason why you have made a special stand for it?

Thank you for your appreciation. Exactly I invented this table stand because carrying this pen is not easy, because of the magnets that attract any metal object.

Excellent, both of them! On the one with the square cross section, are those tiny magnets I see there to hold the cap on?

I may not have been much help, but I DID bump your thread up to the top.

Consider my mind BLOWN. This is just so amazing! 😁

This is the coolest desk pen I've ever seen (I mean, you 'could' stuff it in your bag if you really wanted to 😅). A demonstrator version would also be cool. Imagine seeing the mechanism inside while filling with ink 😍

I'm glad you were impressed! Soon I will also do a demonstrator version.

Over a few years of filling and cleaning (filling and emptying water), will the magnet abrade the side of the body?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
