Firstly it is a ballpoint pen not a fountain pen. Regarding the gold body. is it stamped anywhere with 925 ? if it is it would indicate vermeil ( gold plated silver)

Now the cap, is it a definite solid black or does it appear greenish or is it black with flecks of gold leaf particles ?

You have obivously looked all over the packaging for labels I take it ?

I have had the type of box you show, it contained a solid gold Solitaire pencil. I think some of the boxes are great in their own right and that particular one is a cracker ! :)

I have removed the other postings.

I'm not sure that Montblanc has had a model of ballpoint with a metal barrel and black cap. There's a chance that you bought a put-together pen (like Frankenstein's monster, and the term "frankenpen" is sometimes used).

Dear Pen Nut,

it is without 925 stamp. The cap is Black and without flecks and gold leaf particles.

Do you know what for Montblanc Ballpoint pen it could be ?

Thanks

It's clearly not a "Montblanc Solitaire fountain pen." If that's what the box says on it, then it's not the right box for the pen. -_-

The starting point then becomes the Solitaire Ramses 11 164 Ballpoint - Nr. 20164. :)

However, if the cap is all black with no flecks, then the cap could be a replacement.

You say you've bought it a few days ago, and you need the identifying information "as quick as possible." I suggest you go back to where you bought it from and ask what it is. Or ask Montblanc.

yes, that with fountain pen is a mistake..... :) Howewer, there is nothing on the box that could help me. I have seen many Montblanc Pens but such one not. It is Gold and Black (Cap) without any gold particels (like Ramses)......Does anyone have some info that could help me indentyfing this Pen ? Maybe the Box is the clue ? There are very few boxes like this one.

No Frankenpen; this is a 2004 Montblanc Gift Collection Meisterstück Solitaire Gold Douè 164 ballpoint.

A matching 144 fountain pen was available also.

Little series of pens (most likely limited production time but not numbered) from 14 years ago. Unfortunately I don't have any other information available.

Hope this helps and maybe you'd like to tell us about the urgency of this request ;-)

Cheers

Yes, Michael is correct. I have the fountain pen and some more pens of this unnumbered limited production pens - mostly in all stainless steel - which were offered in some German Montblanc Boutiques only.

Btw, the box doesn't belong to this pen!

Forget it. There are no records how many pens were made.

The value? Well, it's worth what people like to pay for it.

Agreed. High end solitaire box, seen quite a few with other pens 'reting' within, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Sounds on the high side to me. Enjoy your pen. At least you have a nice box to go with it. :)

I really think that this Ballpoint Pen that I bought is something Special !

Ervin 1, you have bought a nice usable ball pen which is in a equally nice, though incorrect, box. The information you seek, especially the numbers made, is simply not going to be found. It was not a limited run item and has, in my opinion, not a lot of interest to the high end Montblanc collector. It is, after all, a gold plated ball pen from a gift set.

Value wise is anyones guess as there are so few of them around but please dont get too starry end about cashing it in for vasts amount of money as you will be dissapointed.

Enjoy your pen in good health.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
