A Pelikan Nibsmith In Eu

Hi!
I already got a very nice Pelikan M205 blue (fine), which i love!

Today I got a Pelikan M200 brown medium - it is a little scratchy and dry… Not as easy to write with and the feedback is a little to rough.

Anybody who knows a nib smith in europe? I live in Denmark myself.

Hello,

I suppose, you don't need a nibsmith. You have only to polish the nib. That's normal, if you are sensible.

Buy a set of sheets of micro mesh in www (for example pendragon, GB) and use the sheets 4000, than 6000, 8000 and 12000. Use it wet (ink or water) and don't do it under pressure, but only make three or four 8 8 8 8 at the different sheets and try how it writes after using the 12000. Than repeat it at the upper sheets (6000 etc.) until it's fine. 4000 is the roughest to polish. Under 4000 you will remove material from the nib.

Wish you sucess - usualy Pelikan nibs are one of the best.

That's absolut right!

I forgot to say: Before polishing always examine, if the two tines are at the same high. Look with a magnifier from the front at the top of the pen and you will see easily if it is ok or wether one of them is bent down or up.

If it is different, you have to adjust the both tines.

If they are ok, the rough feeling often is away.

If it is anyway rough - than polish.

I don't know, was has happend to the nib before.

But also a Pelikan nib in F, will not write as smooth as a M nib. It will be a little bit rougher.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
