Does that hint at Arhur C. Clarke?

Oooo... now there is an author I would consider worthy of an homage pen. Unfortunately not too well known in the world today.

As for the Hammer of the Moderators, I was hinting more at the Hammer of Thor, though his original authors are lost in the depths of time.

Wielded by the butler. In the library. Because I’m waiting for a Dorothy L Sayers to break up the men, men and more men unimaginative trend. Only I’m afraid of MB’s notion of “feminine”

If anyone knows the real answer for this year's Writers Edition release, consider yourself sworn to secrecy.

Do NOT spoil the anticipation of others.

The Hammer of the Moderators will come down hard.

Written in corn poppy red!!!

Do we know when the information will be officially released?

Hey, they did the Agatha Christie just right, in my humble opinion.

I also think they need some designs for (or about) women that aren't following their current trend.

But I agree, they need more female authors in the Writers Edition series.

Well they've got a pretty rich field to choose from, all the way from Jane Austen and the Brontes to Flannery O'Connor.

Love all, trust a few, do harm to none. Shakespeare

Ok if we are taking requests I would like to see Douglas Adams on the list. It could be ultra-black, totally frictionless and have "Don't Panic!" in large friendly letters down the side.

I considered mentioning the Christie, and I may be different, but also like the Woolf :)

Not a MB fan, but I might be attracted by a Mishima or a Tanizaki pen. MB in Japan... that would be interesting. And a change from the Western oriented writers.

Hammer...?

Jerry Pournelle, perhaps? Was sad to hear of his passing last September. Lots of hours enjoying his writings, both SF and computer-ish.

I'm still waiting for Beckett...

He can't make it, but he sent a note that in his place, he's sending his good friend Godot, who should be dropping by very soon.

Does the writer have to be deceased? Given that writing instruments featured prominently in her books, how about J.K. Rowling? You could make the edition inspired by a wand. (And I think shes the most successful female author now...)

(Jumping into an interesting thread. Need a good pic, but just picked up a St.-Exupery roller ball, and suddenly thinking about th FP.)

It could be in the shape of a Quidditch Flying Broomstick. Oh why did I say that? Knowing MB's reputation for rather dubious designs, that's just what they would do. :D

Carrying the Madeline LEngle WE? Or is that set for after the Ursula Le Guin?

Godot will carry both fountain pens each sporting an OBBB nib.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
