Hello, New Here

Hello, I'm new to this forum. As a small introduction, I become a pen enthusiast around August 2017. I started with the Pilot Metro. I have a total of 10 different pens ranging from a Preppy to a E95s.

Out of my entire collection, my favorite pen is perhaps the TWSBI Classic, Sapphire Color, EF Nib. I don't understand why so many people don't like that pen, I LOVE it.

I tend to prefer piston-fillers. I have come too lazy to unscrew a section to operate a converter. Plus, piston-fillers tend to have a decent ink capacity.

I am not a huge fan of demonstrators or eyedropper pens. I never understood the appeal of either. I own a TWSBI Eco and while I love the pen, I wished it was a solid color, rather than clear. As for eyedropper, I'm too scared they'll break apart in my pockets.

That was a small summary of who I am. I hope to contribute and enjoy conversing with you all.

Hello and welcome to FPN, from Cape Town, South Africa.

To sit at one's table on a sunny morning, with four clear hours of uninterruptible security, plenty of nice white paper, and a [fountain] pen - that is true happiness!

Welcome from Columbus, Ohio, USA.

Never tried a TWSBI, but I did think about it, just getting started.

I like the demonstrators if for no other reason I can see exactly how much ink is there and what color ink I have loaded. That said, I have about 7 pens inked right now and only two are demonstrators.

I like TWSBI pens since they're easy to disassemble.

I also like seeing my ink level without disassembling the pen which is why the Classic is my favorite pen. It has a neat ink window and I haven't had any leaking issues some have had.

Welcome !

Wow ! That is lazy. By the way, the abbreviation for the month of June, is " JUN ". Now, THAT is lazy. :lticaptd:

I like a fountain pen that write well, regardless of the filling system. I enjoy the ritual of filling my pen. Eyedropper pens frighten me. (So do clowns and fish with teeth)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
