I'm a german expat residing in Norway. Lately rediscovered the fountain pen (fp) world. Back in school in the 1970s I learned handwriting with fp's, Pelikan and Geha. Later I owned a simple Montblanc. Haven't used fp's for many years but some months ago I fell in love again with the beauty of fp handwriting, quality paper etc ... so I ordered a Pelikan M800 from Germany since it wasn't available in Norway. Happy times receiving it :) I almost daily discover new brands and new aspects of this fascinating world. After researching the japanese fp world I have some japanese fp's on my wish-list.

I want to introduce my small kids to fp writing before entering school.

I have a soft point for small and less known manufacturers, at least less known for me. I ordered a Ranga pen from India, looking forward exploring the converter and eyedropper universe. Right now I'm considering another indian pen, either by Lotus or ASA. Recommendations on 'exotic' fp manufacturers are highly appreciated!

Greetings from New York City.

You have a lot of good student pens to choose from for your kids, including the Pilot Kakuno (and disposable Pilot Varsity), Kaweco Perkeo, Lamy ABC, and Pelikan Pelikano.

Hello and welcome to FPN, from Cape Town, South Africa.

My first fountain pen, in high school in 1972, was a German made "Tropen Scholar" - I still have that pen in my collection today.

My second fountain pen, given to me as a gift, from a German friend from Stuttgart, in 1984, was a Montblanc Noblesse.

It was only in 2017 that I bought my first two Pelikans. A M800 Renaissance Brown and M1000, which I bought in Rome in September.

Enjoy your time here.

To sit at one's table on a sunny morning, with four clear hours of uninterruptible security, plenty of nice white paper, and a [fountain] pen - that is true happiness!

Welcome !

Pelikan Soveràn , what a wonderful writing experience !

I have had very pleasant experience with the made-in-India " CLICK neo-tulip" fountain pen.

Jinhao fountain pens are inexpensive, and durable as beginner fountain pens.
