It's just you... Also make sure you are using an ink that can't just be washed away to alter the amounts writing on it.

Depends also on the nib. Right now I've got the vintage 400, OB nib inked up with Diamine Terra Cotta, so no check writing with that pen (I think my bank would frown at the color).

OTOH, they *might* just accept Iroshizuku Kon-peki in the Pilot Decimo, F nib. After all, it *is* blue....

I paid some with MB Royal Blue in my blue M605, and some with my plain old black and gold M400 with MB Mystery Black.

I think I might get in trouble if I used either of my two Diamine Shimmering black and blue inks.

That is something to consider, Driften. What are the best permanent black and blue inks???

Paying bills is never enjoyable, especially if you be poor. BUT, using a Pelican does make it a little less painful - especially if I use Noodler's Blue Ghost.

It's not just you... I use my birds for all of my everyday writing and they make any writing experience more enjoyable... Esp when you use cool colors

My birds get used for all kinds of things as well. Of course, I mix them with some other pens too.

Of course, we in the UK, write cheques not checks which takes just a little more ink. :D

I was almost conned yesterday by someone who owed me their money in fees, I had been to see them to make them pay, they took out their check book, I told them the amount, they said that they didnt have a pen, I passed to them a P51. They said that they couldnt remember how to use a pen.

I said Ha (verb) Ha.

Magically they suddenly remembered.

Apparently pretty women are not meant to use that verb in society or business.

Tough, pay your bills on time.

OK I'll confess. I do use pink ink for checks, but only when I pay my subscription to Guns and Ammo

Ive been taught only British English and thought to myself damn...nobody in this thread knows how to spell cheque! I had no idea americans spell it check. I thought I knew most of the differences between american and british, but this one was new to me.

Real talk, though...who the hell still uses cheques?! I havent seen one in over a decade!

If you want to increase your enjoyment level, I accept checks.

Thanx Zaddick, I needed that laugh

Lots of differences between American English and English English. As an example, being "knocked up" in England means having some one wake you in the morning. In the USA, it means you're pregnant. I could go on.

I can't think where I put my cheque book, or whether I still have one.

I am not using my Pelikans for that since years either, oddly what has taken their place in this task is my cell phone...

still, Pelikans do make touching that pay now button a little too easy

As far as checks (cheques) go, I probably write two or three a month still. Mostly related to my mother's care and one or two other periodic items. (she is in a care center, and for certain things they will not take even a debit card. Check or cash only.

You are welcome Allan. I value making people laugh higher than small checks. It's good to smile.

I was knocked up rather early this morning and thought I had left my cheque book in the boot of my car but straightaway remembered I had left it in my bumbag.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
