Online, that is.

I live terribly far from a brick-and-mortar pen store.

And have they really gone out of production?

The M605 blue stripe was a 2012 production, so the chance of finding one unsold from a store is going to be slim. You'll need to check for people selling theirs on places like eBay or here on FPN. Just keep your eyes open. I lucked into one when someone posted on Facebook a link to his eBay listing and I jumped on it. Because I prefer the blue stripe with rhodium trim, I wanted the M605. If you can see yourself happy with gold trim, then the M600 blue stripe is and has been regular production and should be available from most Pelikan dealers. Good luck.

The blue M605 is very uncommonly encountered these days. Great pen. I dont see them come up for sale very often. When they do, the ones Ive seen have been at a premium. If youre patient and watch the secondary market, one will show up eventually. You likely wont find any left at the usual retail outlets.

PELIKAN - Too many birds in the flock to count. My pen chest has proven to be a most fertile breeding ground.

I recall it was issued as a special edition pen. The pen is now rarely seen in market. I managed to get one some years back and it was quite a wait. Wishing you luck in finding one.

If the OP <would> stretch to an 805, our own Bill P has a blue-striped 805 for sale for <considerably> less than the prices I see bandied about for 605/805s...and he is a very nice chap to do business with, I assure you. Just go into the classified forum and he's easy to find.

Sigh. They have the M600 Turquoise-White LE, which I have been lusting over. But even on sale I can't afford one :crybaby: (and yes, I was calculating with the non-VAT price plugged into the exchange rate website I have bookmarked).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
