The longest town name in the world is in Wales and translates as:-

"The church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel trees near the rapid whirlpool by St. Tysilio's of the red cave".

It's written here in condensed Blackletter to keep the word short enough, with the lettering at a reasonable x height!

It may be the longest town name, but not the longest place name. That honour goes to a hill in the North Island of New Zealand, which is:

Thank you all, but I have no interest in extra long town or place names. This is purely an exercise in the legibility of condensed Blackletter and its practicability and as such I believe that it was reasonably successful. :unsure:

I've been to Llanfairpg etc a couple of times.

I think the name was designed to draw the tourists.

That's probably because we are in such a close proximity to the english! :)

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
