Congratulations! I remember when you were contemplating getting this pen a few years ago. It is one of my favorite Pelikans, second only to the white tortoise finish.

Probably run off to Bermuda for the weekend with the "shrug" smiley. ;)

As I said on another thread, the pen is gorgeous. And way more than I could afford :( (I looked up the list price on M101 Brown Tortoises yesterday).

Right I remember that. You had turned me on to an Italian seller that had one of these at a good price. I was stuck on the horns of a dilemma: To buy that pen or to buy the 500 Tortoise. Obviously I went for the 500 thinking I would be able to pick up this pen later. I had no idea how long 'later' would be.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
