Perfectly Aged Aleppo Gall Juice

Recommended Posts

A while back I began a fairly scientific attempt at making iron gall ink. I used Aleppo galls, crushed one batch fairly coarsely (about 1/4" pieces) and ground an equal amount (by weight) in a coffee grinder, added equal amounts of distilled water into each jar and put them on a top shelf to set a spell. A couple days ago (and 2 1/2 years later) I discovered them up there and wondered if too much time has gone by for the now quite brown liquid to actually make ink.

So what do you think? And thanks for whatever observations you care to make.

Well, guess I'm not going to get any responses. It's OK as the rest of the posts are really interesting and the content far more sophisticated than my iron gall ink. I'm pretty amazed at some of the topics here and the intelligent comments and discussions I've read. Thanks for letting me look over your shoulders.
