Sorry to ask one more question, but for those who own this and the solid dark blue m405/605/805, how does the blue compare? Is it the same blue or lighter?

New fountain pen parts arriving next Friday. Together with one of my M600 nibs, will be a very nice M600 SE. Still looking for an M205 from Rolfe.

Can't help here I'm afraid. The only other blue one I have is the striated 405.

I think it shows the color better now, unfortunately for me. From the promo pictures I was expecting something more towards a retro azur-ish blue. But with the first owner's photos and this video out I am afraid it feels too "cold"-blue, too settled and ordinary. Maybe even cheap and plasticky a bit.. it is hard to describe - it is just a personal feeling that something doesn't seem right. But is real shame. I was really looking forward for this pen, but with the price they are asking for I think I'll have to wait for more photos to come out before making my final decision.

EDIT: Just got notification on this fresh new eBay listing with quite a lot of nice detailed pictures - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112881228016 and must say it does not look all that bad after all. Here the blue looks lot nicer and richer :)

Just received my m120 today, it seems that the blue has a tint of teal inside and the pictures may not capture it well. The good captain's very first pic is the most accurate i've seen for now

I agree with yongsheng. It's a very appealing color which does seem difficult to reproduce in a photograph. Nothing about the pen feels cheap, and it writes beautifully, at least with the bold nib I ordered. On the other hand it doesn't have the look and feel of a luxury product — it seems like an extremely nice daily carry sort of pen that, so far, is a real pleasure to use.

Can someone post more pictures of their recently acquired Pelikan m120 iconic blue? Also, can you include a writing sample?

I'm getting a Pelikano Up in the Champagne color with a left handed nib(From Fountain Pen Hospital, specifically)

If you look back to page 3 in this thread, you'll see my first picture, where the colour of the pen is most accurate, and there's a sample of a bit of writing with the EF nib and Pelikan Edelstein Topaz ink.

The different colour of the pen next to the M600 green striated for a size comparison is probably due to the light in the room at the time or perhaps influences by what I might have been wearing. Also, it wasn't on a white background with another bit of white paper for fill-in, like the first.

Just received mine from Nibsmith. Pretty much perfect all around. Modest, sober, unostentatious are the words that come to mind. I love the little scrollwork on the nib. Like a hidden tattoo. The F nib writes like a vintage, a bit of elasticity. Matching the simplicity, I inked it with Waterman Serenity Blue.

I'm taking up the coast on a road trip for spring break. Pictures to follow.

So my M120 has just arrived and I LOVE IT! Little darker than I expected but still a pretty piece :-) And Irozshizuku Tsuki-Yo is in my opinion just the right ink for it.

Big thanks and my personal recommendation goes to Fritz Schimpf for great service and quick delivery!

I'm enjoying my new M120 very much. It's inked with Birmingham Pens Cathedral of Learning Panther Blue, which matches it nicely. The nib needed only a tiny tweak to make it write with perfet smoothness, and it's such a pleasure just to look at that beautiful color.

Hi Folks,

Just ordered mine from Cult---about $150 (just the pen, no fancy box) and am receiving a one-pen Pelikan case free.

Don't forget to check with your credit card company for currency exchange fees. My Amazon card doesn't charge a fee.

Regards,

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
