The monotone nibs on this era of 144's are great writers, in my experience.

 

I'd say that your's has the classic circular tipping of a Medium, but just guessing from photographs.

 

Enjoy.

 

I also thought it looked like a M nib with that classic circular tipping, but I still like the way that it writes. Enjoy. :)

Yes I think y'all are correct that its a M nib. I have asked the wife for a gift of a new149 with an OBB nib as it will mean a lot coming from her. She has until the end of the year so plenty of time for birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas to surprise me.

My 144R, with a medium nib, writes a thinner line and looks less broad than your pen. Yours looks like a broad nib I had on a 144R that I traded.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
