Montblanc Hitchcock

Waltz For Zizi

Recommended Posts

Hello. I found a pen for sale, a Montblanc Hitchcock in the same condition as this one listed here

https://www.ebay.com/itm/MONTBLANC-Alfred-Hitchcock-LE-3000-Fountain-Pen-UNUSED-STORE-DEMO-Year-2011/122904318975?hash=item1c9dab13ff:g:7DIAAOSwGbNZ4lE0

..with no box or papers, but for considerable less money (500$).

1. Do you think it's worth the money?

2. Does Montblanc have a list where I can check the number of a limited edition and see if it's reported stolen or not? Do you guys think it's worth the risk of later finding out I bought a stolen pen and to have to give it away and also lose the money since the transaction will be made cash?

To me that seems suspiciously low cost. The regularly sell in the $1800 to $2200 range with boxes, but i would not exect the loss of a box to knowck off that much value.

Everyone had their own circumstances so it could just be someone in need of urgent funds. I will say if it is legit and I was convinced it was not stolen then iw ould buy it in a heartbeat.

It's definitely an original pen, but on the stolen subject, I can never be sure. I mean, it doesn't even need to be stolen, maybe someone lost it and someone else found it and is selling it, and when I send it for repairs to Montblanc, they seize it. That would be a bummer!

I declind the buy. The seller said it was a present but didn't like it when I asked about the box. I think it's the right thing to do. The year is just beginning and 500$ is almost my whole year pen budget. Waiting for the next Black Friday...

It looked like a ballpoint with all of it's correct boxes, from an experienced seller

Read carefully my initial post. I think you misunderstood.

Apologies. You're right. I did misread your original post. :(

It would have been worth that amount, had the pen been legitimate and the purchase price payable by a protected payment method. :)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
