Has anyone had the experience of mixing Pilot Iroshizuku Kosumosu and Fuyu-Syogun?

The mix was initially an accident, 'some' PIFS got into my PIK sample.  I decided to put it all in a pen with a 2mL ink capacity, and added a couple more drops of PIFS to darken PIK (I tend to prefer darker inks).  I call this "Fuyu-Mosu #1".  The color is not bad, I guess you could say it became a dusty rose.  It has a nice dark halo effect.  Interestingly, after playing around with the ink a bit, I noticed a very bright green sheen when the ink pools on the paper.  It was quite a surprise.

I decided to add more PIFS to see if I could darken the pink more, and maybe get more sheen out of it.  I call this "Fuyu-Mosu #2".  The color was not as nice, it leaned more purple, which I dislike in my pinks, and could even be called a light burgundy.  Anyway, about the sheen, it became duller and less intense.

Photos are taken with an iPhone in bright morning outdoor light, on a overcast day.  The close ups are cropped.

Writing sample of both FM#1 and FM#2. Apologies for the eager drops from FM#1.

Wow, what a nice accident.  I didn't like Kosumosu when I tried a sample a few years ago -- I never got the pink to orange shading some people were showing, and under incandescent light it looks like overripe watermelon, IMO.  As for Fuyu-Syogen, I found it to be a bit hard to read, and also very drippy.  But given that it's got a bit of a pink undertone (which I discovered from my completely inadvertent chromatography experiment -- aka, the dripping), mixing with Kosumosu isn't that big a stretch.

I actually like both the look of both mixes.  Thanks for posting!

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Hi, sorry!  Been away for a bit and didn't get a chance to reply.

I'm glad you like the mixes.  I had the same Fuyu-Syogun experience as you, watery and underwhelming.  Mix #2, the one with more PIFS started to feel a bit too wet and feathery already.

I may play around with the mixes a nit more.  Will report back if anything pops up.
