Actually, my hobby is large format photography, but I have always enjoyed using fountain pens, and over the years have used Cross, Parker and others. I also have a Mont Blanc Meisterstruck with quite a wide nib that I received as a gift in 1999, but I don't use it often because it has a skip in the ink when I start writing with it that is quite irritating. That's why I joined this forum. I would like to find out if that can be fixed (maybe that is normal for a wide nib), or if it is possible to change the nib. I would appreciate advice as to which section I should post these questions in.

Best,   Tim

The Baltimore Pen Show is coming up the first weekend of March, so you may want to have a Nibmeister take a look at it http://baltimorepenshow.com/,

If you can't wait, Tim Girdler will be at Bertrams Inkwell in Rockville on Saturday, 20 January 2018 https://www.bertrams...com/events.html  Tim is a great guy and excellent Nibmiester.

Thank You Uff. I will try to stop by there on the 20th. Looks like a fun shop.

I admire your Virginia flag. I'm in McLean. I tried to change mine, but couldn't figure out how to do it.

Uff Da is a Norwegian expression.  Been told loosely translated it means "Good grief."

First heard it from my Norwegian relatives.

Welcome to the forum Tim.

There is a Montblanc forum here where you can post a thread there.

To resolve your ink flow/skipping issue, you could consider sending the pen to Montblanc Repair for a level 1 service that includes a complete overhaul of the pen replacing any parts that are worn as well as a nib adjustment, ie re-seating the nib and replacing ink feeder etc.  So you can end up with nearly a new pen retaining the original nib and clip with the serial number.  The level 1 service is approx $100 USD now.  If the nib is damaged or needs replacement, then it will cost quite a bit more (level 2 service).

It is the same in Uedu, Punjabi and other local language over here - Pakistan. Meaning 'good grief'.

Greetings and welcome to FPN. You can post question(s) about your Montblac in the Montblanc sub forum of the Brand Focuss Forum.

Welcome home.  Pull up a stump and set a spell.  When it comes to tuning nibs, feeds and flow issues I always look first to a good nib technician.  In your area Tim at Bert's would be a great choice.  The folk at most Montblanc Boutiques are polite but not very knowledgeable when it comes to fountain pens.

Hello Tim and welcome to FPN, from Cape Town, South Africa.

To sit at one's table on a sunny morning, with four clear hours of uninterruptible security, plenty of nice white paper, and a [fountain] pen - that is true happiness!
